You've got this. If you still have your program materials, pull them out and read every bit again. Get back into your bariatric team. The patients who don't stay focused and involved are the ones who more often fail, and that is not you!!!! You still have your weight loss tool, you just need to tune it up get to work. You didn't have a baby to just lose control and not be the best Mom that you can be.

Go back to your liquid, Protein focused diet for at least 3 days and jump-start the process.

Last but most certainly not least, get some sleep!!!! It has to be incredibly hard with a little one but with proper sleep, you will be clearer and be able to make fetter choices, be it food or packing up the stroller and walking/jogging the neighborhood.

You can do this and we are here to help, if we can.

Have you tried or considering telling yourself that you can only have your cheats AFTER you have had all of your Protein? How are you doing on Water? Instead of giving in to the cheat, get in 8 ounces of Water first.

Bottom lime, get back to basics, and keep your eye on your goals, playing with that baby now and seeing them graduate in 18 years while knowing you were there for every minute....

Thanks for sharing your struggles. It was the weight I gained after pregnancy that finally put me over the edge to elect surgery. I completely empathize with the hormones and financial stress ... Fear of failure which leads to self beating up. And you know it but beating yourself doesn't help it only makes it worse. If you have any way to see a counselor I would do it. It's one hour that's just for you. You have been successful and "know" the right things to do. Remember your motivations and know that you have the power. Might need more tools. The sleeve is one. Counseling might be another. Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
