Shocking TLBC news

Recommended Posts

Hi: I understand that all business goes under restructuring sometimes but what concerns me is that the principal player has left and now a key player in the clinic. A small business like that can go under rapidly especially with the competition now taking place. I have tried numerous times to get post surgery fill/defill service out here and have been turned away. I am about to travel to TO at a cost of roughtly $1,000.00 and I believe the clinic owes us an explanation on what is transpiring. I have one doctor I am going to try out here but most only handle their own patients. What I am saying is I could care less about staff comings and goings, but more concerned about my future care. Doddie - have you contacted Kathy Palermo? I emailed her yesterday and received a response within 10 minutes.

Hi: Nisrine is not the problem. Staff come, staff go, but one of the main princples have gone and there is no news release to the clients. Any investment I have when the business is sold or CEO etc leave, there are always annoucements. With no contract and difficulty getting fills in BC I would like some sort of assurance that they have a business plan. Anyway, I have been making noises on the Canadianbanders website and I got a staff member so I think my worries have been addressed. I guess I wouldn't be 300 lbs if I wasn't emotional/worrier. Nesrene told me that she is an interior decorator. She also said she more often than not worked 10 to 12 hour days at the clinic..That can be exhausting to say the least. I really liked her. Today someone called Darryl called me and went over my forms regarding allergies, surgeries etc, I actually asked her why since I went over that stuff with Nesrene when I was there. She said she was supposed to call.

I saw Nisrine on Monday and I can only guess that it's BAU at the TLBC, my cheque cleared my account today that I gave her when we met. It's too bad that shes gone... she made me feel very comfortable when I met with her for my consult.

Hi: There has now been an official posting on the Canadianbanders website. There will be business as usual and I am well reassured that future care will be there at the TLBC. My fears have been put to rest as for the staff leaving, staff come, staff go. My fears was the future care as I am having difficulty getting post op care in BC. I received a personal communication and I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders (not my weight unfortunately). I guess I wouldn't be 300 lbs if I had control of my emotions and the letter was very reassuring. Doddie

Wow! I was banded at TLBC last Sept and didn't know that Dr. Joffe had left.:D When did he leave???? ;) And now Nisrine! :faint: She was both charming to deal with and beautiful. This is all very weird. Dr. Yau is a fine surgeon. I think he was the one who installed my hardware and he is still a young man...years of surgery work left in him, eh.:clap2:

rekunah: I think he left at the end of January. Anyway more news from me. I am grateful the clinic is continuing as I have a flipped port and will be in TO to see Dr. Yau on the 14th. Everyone has been very cordial and understanding. They have bent over backwards to ensure my appointment and surgery dates are back to back because I have to fly such a distance. Life after Dr. Joffee continues at the TLBC. BAU (love those initials). Doddie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
