Liquid protein shake recommendation

Recommended Posts

Congrats Krystal....how do you feel? If I try Isopure I'll definitely keep u posted.

Sorry for the slow reply, but I feel ALOT better today. The first few days home I was miserable! I normally sleep on my side or stomach (you no with that 1 arm under pillow!) but that puts pressure on ur tummy, and it hurt bad!! SoI wasn't getting any good sleep, i think I got most of it in the living room recliner. Me an the husband starting hitting the track walking 1 mile a day, so that eased up on gas pains alot. Also I am having hard time getting my liquids an Protein in. It's still a little sore when I swallow so I sipp real lightly. The 1 thing I hate, is the Little monster the dr replaced my tummy with! Throughout the day I get these horrible pains in my tummy, that are loud! To be honest I think it is my tummy growling, but due to me still healing it hurts. Idk, but this has been an amazing journey so far. I got out of hospital on the 31st, a weighed as soon as I got home. I thought that I would have lost weight in hospital but I didn't! I weighed the exact same as when I was admitted for surgery:(

BUT today I weighed, an I've lost 10lbs just since Friday! In total shock;)

When are u scheduled for surgery? What area are you in?

10lbs in 4 days!! That's awesome!! No biggie on the response time I figure you're recouping.

I'm a stomach and side sleeper too!! I better start training myself lol.

I've seen some people stating they have difficulty with Protein intake....have u tried watering it down?

I am scheduled for 07/24, however, I got a letter in the mail from the insurance that they reached out to my surgeon for additional information. I was initially approved for the band but I switched to sleeve last week, after meeting a friend of a friend who was sleeved 2 years ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all hoes well!! I'm in NY, I work in the city and I live in the Bronx. I'm having the surgery done at NYU.

Congrats again and stay positive and hydrated :)

Yes the Protein shakes that im on arent nasty, it's just I'm to full to drink any more! To much to drink with 60 gms Protein an 64oz Water. I actually just got this new website off 1 of these forums an checked it out. It's amazing! It's a lady that started a WLS food blog, an it has amazing recipes. I just got through looking at the protein section an she has homeade ice cream recipes just for protein. There are Breakfast lunch dinner an snack sections, you have to check it out! Click the home drop an you can read her story, but make sure to check out the links an resource section! Everything on there is categorized an has step by step instructions;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
