What month did you first try carbonated drinks?

Recommended Posts

7 months out and I still haven't tried one. Can't think of one good reason to go there!

On Christmas Day I had one glass of Moet & Chandon champagne. I was 4 nearly 5 months post op. Since then I have had a couple more. I decided that if I was going to have wine or bubbles it would be the good stuff. Not a big drinker anyway. I am still here! It didn't make me sick or gassy or drunk.

One of my other decisions was to never put anything into my new stomach that had no nutritional value, or that could damage that little sleeve! So coke would not be my choice but if you are obsessing about it, have a half glass and see if it still appeals. This is a choice you have to make, and we all have to make these choices every day for ever. Sometimes our choices turn out to be the wrong ones. Just move on and remember which are the right choices.

Five months out and haven't needed or wanted to do that yet. I used to be a diet coke addict.

Six months and I don't want to open the door to diet soda again either. I was totally addicted. I would love to try a pellegrino again someday and a beer... But not until after goal and a year out is my plan! My dr is fine with it too... And even was fine with flat soda very early out. But I know myself and want to stay away now that I don't really want it anymore.

My doc doesn't want his pts to ever go there again. My nut said it just leads to other bad habits. I'm 6 months out and if I want so etching different I have dt snapple. I'm afraid it'd be a bad idea for me to start. It's already hard enough to get Water in and it's all I drink....

I was the worlds worst diet Mountain Dew addict there ever was. I could go through a 24 pack in about 3 days by myself.

I have had this addiction since I was 18! I'm now 44! I think, though this is pure speculation, that the chemicals in it induced my autoimmune disease. So, I'm going to stay away from it now that I've broke myself from it. Whether it induced my autoimmune disease or not, it's still unhealthy.

My doctor doesn't want his patients to go back to carbonated beverages, either. Honestly, as long as there is Mio and other brands of "Water enhancers", I am fine!

Wow!! I was banded 2005 and I did good till 2010...for 5 years I never drank carbonated water!! After all my Fluid was removed and I gained almost all my weight I started back, the first pepsi was soooo good even though it burned my chest and then came out of my nose!! I decided to drink anothe one with more ice to dilute it and drink it really slow!! I was back to drinking soda 16oz 2x a day or more for the next 4 years :(

2014 I started my NEW weightloss journey and have not had a soda or any carbonated Water in 2014...im now SLEEVED and my dr and nut dont want me drinking carbonation!! I feel so proud to be 6 months carbonation free and 8 weeks sleeved!!

Good luck i know its a struggle but we can do it!!

I am 4 weeks post op and the hardest thing is staying away from Diet Dr pepper. Ive never been much of a Water drinker and all the fruity drinks just do not satisfy me. With that being said It has been 6 weeks and no diet dr. pepper. I know that is not a road I need to go down.

6 months out... My doctor says Never again! Although I've been tempted, that's a slippery slope I won't go down! I know that's where a lot of my weight came from and I don't want to gain!!

I used to love my custom fountain drink made of Powerade mixed with sprite. It was so refreshing and thirst quenching for me. Last week (5 months out) I was getting gas and they had a "free fountain drink with 10 gallon fill up" special. So I went for it. Used lots of ice and let it sit 10 minutes to defizz a little. I took 2 sips and it tasted great, but then I realized how stupid it would be to drink...all those worthless sugars and chemicals. So I dumped it out and drank a bottle of Water instead. Didn't really have enough to assess the effects of the carbonation.

I'm only 11 days post op but I flipped the switch on all carbonated beverages early in my process. It's odd that some docs say stay away for life and others allow it. My doc says never again and I totally agree. In my opinion if there is any doc that's against it and you know there is no nutritional value. ..pass ! We didn't do the extreme for weight loss just to lose the war to a drink. We are better than that.

I haven't had a soda per se, but I picked up a flavored water at the drug store, and discovered after opening that it was "sparkling." Tried to drink about half, letting it sit in my mouth to "defizz," but still had pain, Prior to that, I willfully ordered a specialty drink similar to a Moscow Mule (which is made with fizzy ginger beer). It wasn't a huge drink, and it was fine going down, but all of a sudden afterwards, I was in so much intense pain, I was praying to throw up (and unfortunately, didn't). I like to keep testing things (little rebel), so I had a few sips of a hard cider this weekend, but it was so not-enjoyable that I poured it out after just those few sips. I have had no problem taking in all amounts of non-carbonated beverages, though I do strictly limit alcohol.

It's the carbonation that I love so much. I'm not a fruity drink lover either. I'm trying to imagine going to the movies with my husband and having Water with my popcorn. Yuck!

It's either water or something like Powerade. Double yuck. Maybe since I only get to go to the movies twice a year I'll get a coke icy or something like that. This whole journey would be so much easier if I liked sweets or sweet drinks. :/

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
