Anyone starting their journey in San Diego Kaiser?

Are you sooooo excited to start classes tomorrow!!!?!?!?! They go by quicker than you think!! I just noticed your last post, I was actually worried about dropping below the 40 BMI also and I asked about it before I even applied. It isn't an issue at all. They seem to really like the effort when people lose weight, so you can't be disqualified or anything if you BMI drops below 40. I think (im not positive) that once you get into the program, you are basically approved...Im sure there are reasons that they would deny you going forward, but only in situations like problems with your labs or something like that.

I am super excited!! I hope the BMI isn't going to effect anything Im are it won't but I will ask them when I start tomorrow to make sure. I just want to start and keep going, Im tired of being fat and my Triglycerides are extremely high so now Im worried about it constantly. How many more weeks do you have to see the doctor before you can schedule surgery?

I scheduled to see him again on the 2nd. Oddly yesterday, I got a call from scheduling because they were trying to schedule my surgery. Apparently they had a signed form from the doctor to move me forward, but it doesn't make sense with what he had told me. So they were going to look into it today and call me back. It would be great if he just moved me forward, but Im not going to get my hopes up!!

Ugh that would not make me happy if they did that because it would get my hopes up and then if they made a mistake then Id probably cry! Maybe he did say okay because its been long enough and hasn't seen any changes for worse! Let me know what they say hopefully its good news!!

I don't know what to think.....i feel like they are just dangling the carrot a little more!!! If they made a mistake and he signed off on it then it kinda makes me wonder about him?? Does he not pay attention to details, if he is signing off when he shouldn't have?? Its frustrating because I feel they should just let me through because all of my labs are perfect....grrr...so annoying!!

I totally feel for you that would be so frustrating and I agree with you to. Maybe he signed off though because he thinks you are fine and the timing has been long enough. Did they call you back yet?

AAAAAWWWWWWW YAAAAA!!! Im so excited for you, you have to make sure and let me know how it goes and all the goods and bad's! I can't wait!

The class was good, the teacher is funny and entertaining so I think it will be okay. It went by super fast and was interesting, so many questions were answered in 1 session so Im excited to see what the rest will be.

Im so happy for you! Do you have to do the pre surgery liquid diet?

We only have to do Clear Liquids the day before the surgery, but thats pretty easy compared to what I've seen some people have to do!!

Hi I only have 5 more classes and I'm done. I'm also with Kaiser and I'm so excited! Our group made a private Face Book page that no one else can see, we got to be very close and we want to continue to be in touch after all our surgeries, I can suggest your group do the same. We also talk about everything and we support each other. It's a great feeling since we have been together for so long and by now we know each others sad and happy side. I wish you tons of luck! Don't have pictures because I don't like to take pictures but I'm sure that will change. No, actually I do a group picture, your group should also take one - the before and after! We had about 10 speakers (very lucky because it's not the norm) and we learned a lot! This is not brain surgery and if we don't watch what we eat we will gain it back! One of the speakers had gain 30 out of 150 she lost! So we saw first hand it does happen. I also went to a support group and another as well gained 30, another substitute the eating for shopping, another started drinking. I'm not trying to be negative but we need to be mindful eater for now on. You will be required to go to support groups ask them everything you can think of. The more you know the stronger you will be and the less mistakes you will make. Check YouTube you can find tons of videos with different information, that will help you as well.

Okay I think I'm going to bore you so I'm going to stop! Good good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
