@ James: Lol no my friend I'm in my middle 40's. No disrespect but that gave me a little chuckle ; )

Well that is good to know. I am 65 and I would hate to feel there is some time of age related complication with the surgery.

Hi my name is Liz and I had my surgery back in 2006. And to be completely honest with you, I've regretted it ever since.the sleeve wasn't available at the time so I don't know what can be done. Let me start from the beginning. I was 5'6 310lbs diabetes, high blood pressure. Cholesterol thyroid, you name it I had it. Then I was approved for the surgery, and so thrilled. In the beginning it was great, I was losing weight feeling healthy and I was back in shape better than ever. Then I started to notice something, I was eating more than usual and wasn't gaining any weight. I didn't think anything of it at first but the weight just started falling off of me like crazy. It wasn't until last year when I lost over 60lbs in 4 months.i spent the whole summer in and out of hospitals. And not one doctor could tell me what was wrong with me. They still can't.losing the weight is out of control now, I can't stop it even if I wanted to. I got rid of a whole list of things but ended up with a whole new list of problems. I'm on every Vitamin known to man, I have a hard time keeping food down and the pain is unbearable!!!!!! Had I'd known about all these side affects I would've thought twice about having it. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS!!!!!! I've been given every test and blood test known to man. I live in Michigan and have been to 3 different hospitals and still no answers. If anyone out there can help me please I need a doctor who knows about all the side affects. After 14 yrs I didn't aspect anymore side affects. Please anyone!!!!!!!

Hi Liz.

I am very sad to hear you are having difficulties. I wish your health could improve without the reversal - as it is a very complicated surgery and only a few doctors care to do it.

There is a lady on this forum who went through the "takedown", you should reach out to her. Here is the link to the board:

Also here is an other site about reversals, with a few doctors whos are performing them.

I wish you the best of luck and please keep us updated!

I came across this article and thought it might be relevant, especially the section titled Malabsorptive bariatric surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
