I have all my hoops jumped thru ,and need to wait 5 wks just to see dietician and then liver diet and surgery.......sigh. I just want to do this already. I know good things come to those who wait right? How long has everyone else's whole process to get to surgery day taken?

Oh my gosh, it felt like forever. Then suddenly I had a surgery date 2 weeks away! They do stuff like that all the time. I think the whole process took about 7-8 months. Once you get the surgery date it will go by really fast.

My first appointment was March 18th and my surgery is scheduled June 9th. So, the process has been very fast and gone smoothly without a hitch (knock on wood). I had to see the surgeon 3 times (4 weeks apart), had the pulmonology clearance (already on c-pap so didn't have to do a sleep study -- the doctor just had to write a clearance letter), had a psych eval and had to see a cardiologist for surgery clearance (just did a treadmill test this morning). I also had 3 visits with a nutritionist which were actually really pleasant.

So for me, the entire process has taken 83 days. Now, after the surgery, the hard part starts! lol

I started my process on March 3rd and my surgery is scheduled for June 25th. The only test I had to to do was an egd.

I had my bypass may 7th. At each 2 appointments I brought a fruit basket to the office and then when everything was done and being sent to the insurance I brought the insurance lady at my dr office a fruit tray with a little note thanking her for her effort. :) I think it worked making my name stand out. Hope your surgery day is soon!!

I started my journey the 2nd week of February. I didn't have the surgery until May 19th. The process is long but you will be scheduling your surgery before you know it. Hang in there!

Depends on insurance. My insurance required 6 months of weight management that didn't start until my first visit with the nut. I initally contacted the insurance regarding starting the process in April 2014, and I am scheduled for surgery on June 16th. Could have gone faster, but I had another surgery last June for an unrelated issue that set me back a bit. But, once my 6 months was completed it's been pretty quick.

My referral began in April 2013...classes started in August 2013. I had to take a couple of 8 week courses on nutrition and psychology. A monthly support group. Monthly dr visits. Dietician. My surgery date was May 5th.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
