swimbikerun 1,046 Posted May 28, 2014 Just a link I found on sugar substitutes. Don't know if people are using them or just regular sugar in smaller amounts. http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm397711.htm
James Marusek 5,244 Posted May 29, 2014 Sugar is my kryptonite. After surgery I stay away from the stuff. I check food labels on ingredients. If sugar or high fructose corn Syrup shows up as one of the main ingredient, I avoid that product. Generally I substitute Splenda and Stevia as an alternatives to sugar. 2 Gr8fulMiniMe and DLCoggin reacted to this
PdxMan 4,292 Posted May 29, 2014 I'm a "just smaller amounts" kinda guy. Some of those sweeteners are not only just plain nasty, they are also toxic. I'm going with mother nature.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted May 29, 2014 Most of the artificial sweetners are O.K. They have just gotten bad P.R. from groups that are hell bent on destroying the reputation of man-made products. Today there is also the choice of many natural artificial sweeteners such as Stevia. 1 DLCoggin reacted to this
Rena's got this 274 Posted May 29, 2014 I do both. I use splenda in my tea, and whenever I eat a bowl of Cereal. Sometimes though, I'll just skip the splenda and go with the sugar. I haven't really noticed a difference, since I eat/drink so little of either one of them.
