I'm a little over 6weeks out from surgery down 30/31lbs. I went in a little over a weeks ago and got a fill. But I'm still hungry all the time.. Snacking cause I'm hungry! I called and made another appt for Tuesday to get another fill. Is this normal before getting to the green zone? It really sucks to eat what I'm suppose to and still be hungry or hungry 20-30min later.. I felt so good and was doing great then the last 2-3weeks have been sucky cause I'm hungry!! ??

I'm going for my third fill this Friday and had surgery on April 25,2014. I am down 45 pounds. I have been eating lo-carb since my surgery but in the last two days i started eating more Protein than anything. I am hungry all the time so I am hoping that this next fill will bring me closer to the green zone. I am at 5cc's.

Many if not most new banders need more than 1 or 2 fills to feel some kind of satiety. I lost 12 lbs the first 2 weeks post surgery and then nothing for the next 3.5 months and 2 fills.

What you're experiencing is what we call Bandster Hell. Seems like you're hungrier than even before surgery and you can still eat large bites and large servings. It will all pass once you get your band adjusted properly.

I got my 3rd fill about 4 months after surgery and for once I started to feel like I could eat less for longer periods of time. It took 3 more fills to finally get to the green zone. I believe my journey is typical for many banders.

I tried very hard to eat healthy those first 4 months and even now. One more thing, I had a consult with my nutritionist at my 4 month dr visit and she steered me to foods that helped with satiety and also helped me eliminate about 300 unnecessary calories. Hang in there and keep going in for those adjustments.

Thank you guys! I didn't have a pre-op diet. I have 4cc in my band now. I'm excited to go get another fill! I hope it gets better I hate only eating what I'm suppose to and feeling like I'm starving! I'm still going to the gym 4-5 times a week and I only weigh myself every 2weeks. So hopefully the weight keeps coming off!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
