So I had my surgery june 23. I am too dehydrated to be send home today. I am not tolerating my liquids yet. Yesterday was such a bad day, I wasn't even sure this was worth it. With every sip of Gatorade I feel extremely full and nauseated. I'm just bummed out. I knew it would be hard but I didn't plan on being miserable. Boo!

TammygRN it's been rough for me too and I'm still regretting my decision. I came home with a PICC line as a precaution for leaks. I had lap band to VSG revision and the scar tissue was so bad that my surgeon couldn't even see my band when he got in there. He also mentioned that there was also scar tissue underneath where the band was wrapped around my stomach. All I can do is hope and pray that everything will strengthen in the 3 weeks that I will be receiving TPN and I won't have any additional complications. I'm a very nervous/anxious sleever right now. My first 2-3 days were really rough. I'm finally starting to feel more like myself. I hope you are doing better. Hopefully we will both eventually come to love our sleeves.

I had my sleeve on the 23rd as well. I hope you all are feeling better. Can't wait to check in again. So this has been an surreal experience to me. The last three or four years have been very rough but the day I decided to get surgery I can't believe my life was the way it was. Finally walking around without a cane or using a wheelchair. My husband cried yesterday because it was the first time we were able to take a walk alone together in since mid 2011.

Again I hope all you 23's are well.

I love hearing about all of these successes! Congratulations, everyone!

I also had surgery June 23 and stayed an extra day (3 nights) because I was really dizzy and unable to walk more than 30 steps or so. I was not prepared for the nausea, but the meds helped. By Day 2 I was also questioning whether it was worth it, but by the evening of the 25th, all nausea stopped. I'm also allergic to Dilaudid, and so had to have some mega doses of Benadryl, which makes me really loopy. By Thursday morning, I hadn't had any Dilaudid or Benadryl for 24 hours, I had a hot shower, and I felt like a new person. I was able to sip 3 oz. of Water every 30 minutes and I was so ready to come home to get some real sleep.

Since then I've felt great. My only discomfort comes from not eating the right consistency (going too thick on the liquids -- Greek yogurt was really painful in the first few days of full liquids). Black bean Soup was too thick on the first few days of pureed. I'm figuring out what my tolerances are.

Now, 3 weeks later, my main focus is trying to get 80 grams of Protein in each day. I'm introducing 2-3 Tbsp of pureed chicken meat into my Healthwise Soups and drinking 2 powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes a day with Greek yogurt and fruit Snacks.

I am also down 31 lbs. but it's been a struggle. My PICC line was removed last week and getting these fluids in has become a huge task. I seem to have early morning stomachaches too. Does anyone else have this problem? Hope everyone is well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
