Which Multi-Vitamins are everyone taking?

Recommended Posts

I am 3 months post VSG, down 60 lbs since first of the year and doing great. My Doc had me taking Bariatric Advantage Complete Multi-Formula (which his office conveniently sells). I see on this site that some Surgeons and NUTs recommend Flintstones chewable, Trader Joes chewable etc. I like the Bariatric Advantage just fine, but they are quite pricey. I also noticed that the Bariatric Advantage tend to crumble in the container. I am left with a bottle that's a combination of broken tablets and powder.

I would very much appreciate all input.

I am also taking Flinstones complete. I take 2 in the am. Just had my 3 month blood work done and looks like they have been working just fine.

I get my Multi Vitamins & Calcium from The Vitamin Shop. They were recommended to me by someone who had the sleeve 3 yrs. ago. You can also get these in a liquid form but much more expensive.

Garden of Life Vitamin Code for women. I like that they are whole food based and contain micronutrients, live Probiotics, antioxidants and enzymes you can get from synthetic vitamin products. I also take a separate B12 sublingual.< /p>

I take two Multivitamins from Walgreens (there own brand) that is the same as Centrum Silver. They are reasonably priced and they work for me. I don't go for all the bells and whistles that the surgeons office sells. I do use quality Unjury Protein. It is the best.

I currently have Giant Eagle kids' chewables. I used Flintstones for a while, and I have Centrum chewables (which did NOT agree with me at all). I like Flintstones, and get them when they're on sale. Otherwise, the store brand is essentially the same (I went through the ingredients) and my NUT was okay with them, plus they agree with my tummy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
