How does it feel when you eat solid protein?

Recommended Posts

what I mean by this is:

I have been banded since Feb 2007 and have gained all my weight back. I did not like the way it felt when I ate solid Protein. I am not tight in fact I am probably at a good fill.

I was just wondering what it feels like to other people?

I avoid solid protein, a fear of getting stuck is what I think caused this in the first place.

So I tend to eat slider foods,

Just wondering how it feels to others.

I've only been banded almost 3 weeks. My doctor put me on stage 2 and 3 mushies, so I've eaten some solid Proteins like shrimp, chicken (cooked in skillet sauces), and barbacoa from chipotle with some sour cream.

Ive never felt stuck eating these. I take really small bites and chew well because i'm afraid of getting stuck. If i eat too fast, I can feel my esophagus get kinda tight, but after a few minutes I can feel the food move through the band and feel fine again. I've been able to get all my Protein in my eating it, and not having to drink it, for the most part.

As long as I eat small bites slowly, there is no feeling. food just passes through the stoma into your stomach.

Slider foods offer very little in the way of satiety if your band is adjusted properly. And, most slider foods are higher in fat and processed food products. Not to mention less healthy.

Getting stuck is no fun but it's not all that bad. I've been stuck hundreds of times and it's no big deal. I just wait a few minutes for the food to pass and I slow down or eat much smaller.

I am terrified of getting stuck, so I always thoroughly chew chew chew!! Like a paste. I eat all sorts of meat: chicken, steak, bbq, that kind of stuff. No problems so far.
