Meredyth 14 Posted May 28, 2014 I'm down here in Australia, and really enjoying reading the supportive comments. I'm recovering well when I give myself permission, trying to be Wonder Woman makes it all harder. My shoulder pain has gone now, my port site is the most troublesome pain at the moment. But I'm really struggling to eat/drink enough nutrition. I have no hunger at all, and I just forget to have anything. Also, anyone troubled by loose bowels? I think id rather be constipated!! Anyway, thanks for listening, I'm a bit nervous about the road ahead, so will be checking in for support. 1 betty_s reacted to this

AllieBB 7 Posted May 28, 2014 Did you have difficulty finding a bariatric center? Did you have private insurance? Sorry about all the questions. I live half the year in NZ and half in the USA as I am retired and my husband is a Kiwi. I was told by my PCP that the list is long and the chances rare that public health will provide the surgery. When researching on line I discovered only two procedures had been done in our area of the south island and they were working on raising funding for two more. If I can't get it done in NZ I am looking at Australia or the US. Any info you can give me would be helpful. Thanks and best of luck on your journey.

Meredyth 14 Posted May 28, 2014 Hi Alli, There are lots of centres in Sydney, no difficulty finding anyone. I have private health insurance, and most of the costs were covered. Having said that, still waiting for the anaesthetist bill, which is usually massive!
