Hello all. I am new to this forum. I was sleeved on Feb 10th and have lost 86 pounds including the 15 pre-op. I am fine with everything and happy about the weight loss. There is one thing that is really bothering me. It is an annoying gurgling sound and feeling in my stomach that moves up through my esophagus. It does not feel like acid reflux but like gas bubbles.

I follow all the rules about eating. I eat slowly, chew well, don't overeat, don't drink 30 minutes before or after i eat, etc...i tried going back to the liquid diet as suggested by nutritionist but nothing has helped. It has stayed the same. It happens all the time. When i eat or don't eat, it has even kept me up at night.

I am including a link to where i uploaded a sample of the stomach noises i've recorded using my phone.

I have my follow up appointment on June 10th. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this and what happened? Has it been resolved.

I get that as well, especially when I'm full. I think it's just the air coming up from your pouch.

I get that too! Sometimes when I haven't even eaten yet. I assumed it is just an air bubble. Sometimes it comes out like a burp but other times nobody else can hear anything but I can feel it. If anyone has an answer, I'm curious to hear what it is and if there is anything to do about it.

I am with all of you. i hear noises and feel them too. Not all of the time but lots of times. Sometimes other people can hear it. I just figure it is normal. I notice it a lot when I eat and then I stop because if I don't, I overeat. I think it is our pouches telling us they are working?!

Have you asked the question on the sleeve board?

Ok, I listened to your recording. It struck me so, so funny because that is it! I have those sounds too and in fact, I had mine going while yours was going which caused me to go into a full-blown laugh out loud experience. I had RNY. When and if any one gets info on this I am all ears! (pun intended!)

I tried researching it and got nowhere. I plan on asking my surgeon tomorrow when I go. It is uncomfortable somewhat really.

"Holy Cow" I thought it was just me. It happens also when I first wake up, or after my first sips of liquid for the day and also through out the day when I drink or eat. if anyone can find answers to this that would be great. It can be embarrassing at times, especially when there is no way to control it. I had RNY and at 7weeks post.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
