tamalyn 6 Posted May 28, 2014 I had my surgery on May 12, 2014 and this past Monday marked me beginning my 3rd week and introducing mushy/soft foods. Tonight for dinner I had a 2oz piece of baked cod fish and when I took 2 small bites it feels like it's stuck in my throat. Mind you, this happens with anything that's not a liquid. eggs, smashed sweet potato, smashed veggies. I had the gastric sleeve along with the hiatal hernia repair and my gallbladder removed. Will this pass or should I be concerned?
LookatmeNow34 25 Posted May 28, 2014 I believe it has to do with the other procedures you had...I had my surgery the same day and I don't have a problem with bloackage....Can actually eat like normal just much less....Hope you feel better...Stick to liquids until your body say different
leeann71 539 Posted May 28, 2014 It was that way with me for quite awhile after my surgery. Like you I also had the hernia repair to. Make sure your food has some kind of moisture to it. Maybe a little bit of thin gravy to the eggs or something in that nature. Take your time, eat super slow and maybe only take about a half of a teaspoon at a time. It will get better , just takes time to heal all the cuts and sutures our poor esophagus and stomachs have gone through.
tamalyn 6 Posted May 30, 2014 Thank you so much for replying to my post. I have since went with very moist foods and my pureed foods and it's going down easier. I still get the pressure in my abdomen but it's not as bad, time will tell. Again, thank you so much. 2 leeann71 and Time1989 reacted to this
Patoonces 13 Posted June 8, 2014 I had this two around when you did. I found that moisture and time is the key. Still have trouble with some chicken, tofu, anything if it's too dry or eat too fast.

She said to try taking smaller bites (the size of a pencil eraser) and making sure you are waiting a minute between each bite. Maybe that might help????
