I was hoping to wear one of my new sundresses to my appointment tomorrow but I just heard it's only supposed to be in the fifties. Guess it'll be jeans and a jacket... but they'll be SIZE 6 jeans and a SMALL jacket! :-)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! My clinic is changing scheduling systems so I can't call until next week. Can't wait to see my labs. I probably won't get in until early July, and am still hopeful I can lose these last five stubborn pounds before the day comes.

Good luck to you! I did my labs two weeks ago. All my labs to date were good so there's no reason to expect anything different this time, but I still worry. I'll know in a couple hours...

Thanks everyone! Everything is good but they didn't have my lab results. I went to one that was convenient for me but evidently not associated with my doc so results are slow to get there. They're going to locate them and mail the results to me. I'm not worried, though. I take my Vitamins religiously but occasionally forget my Calcium. :-)

Also, it's time to start planning on fixing my stomach. I'm actually hoping for some rashes to document so BCBS will pay for it. It'll have to get warm enough to sweat, though. Today is freezing! :-)

Just got a call from my PA. She said the lab results are best she's ever seen (I'm sure it's an exaggeration). She said keep doing what I'm doing, don't change a thing. :-)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
