When do you like food again

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks out and can't stomach thinking about food. It makes me sick to think about it. I have a hard time eating. I'm not throwing up anything just nothing sounds or is appealing. Does this feeling pass? Will I like food again.

Eating and drinking finally stopped being a chore for me 3 months out. Now I love food again, and make sure every bite is a yummy, healthy one (well, almost every bite)

Oh honey, you will learn to love food again! You may even learn to love it more than before, because you won't have to deal with the constant guilt of overeating, and will feel true satisfaction and satiety! Don't worry - it will come! You are going through a unique period that many of us went through, with the nausea constantly present. You tastes are going to change and the foods you crave may change for many months to come, but yes, things get better from here! Blessings!

At 5.5 months I still don't love food and am hoping this lasts. My love of food is what got me into this mess.

I love considering food for its nutritional value and not as a source of entertainment or method of soothing.

I am 3 months & 1 week post op and started to actually want to eat about 3 wks ago. Before that I couldn't walk into a grocery store without feeling sick. It does get better! Hang in there! It'll go by fast and you will be happy that you made the decision that you did.

I actually have been enjoying food beginning of my 6th week. not eating that much of it but some. Even small bites ( I mean tiny bites of tortilla chips) with guac. / salsa. I had 3 bites of an enchiilda. But this is last week of soft foods for me as my surg. was April 21st. I have been fine.. no stomach pains no over eatting. all is been good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
