I would make an excellent leader because I am compassionate, friendly, honest, open, encouraging, and I am available to lead a group. Additionally I have experienced morbid obesity and I know what it feels like to be overweight and hopeless. I also know what it feels like to be given hope and an excellent tool of weight loss surgery to help me on my journey to health and fitness.

I had the lap band and later had to have it revised to the sleeve. I have lost over 80 pounds. My weight loss has been slow compared to others who have had the surgery but it has been progressive.

Currently there is no active weight loss surgery support group in my area. I attend meeting in Atlanta and Decatur, Georgia when my schedule permits. I was very active in the Decatur, Georgia group for a while (Steering Committee and hospital support for WLS patients) but had to step down due to health issues.

Becoming a Local Support Group Leader will not only allow me to be of support to other WLS patients in my area but would provide me the continued support I need as well.

Excitingly Awaiting your response.

@@Alex Brecher were we to send "resumes" about leading a group to you? If so, I'M IN!!!

I'd love to have one that's closer to me to go regularly...

Live in Gwinnett, central for North GA, would love to have a veterans'/ regain/ revision group, for folks > 1 year out. What a great support it would be! Anybody else?

Good Morning Alex,

I would love to start a group as well. Starting a support group in my home town would be preferable but I am willing to attend a group until I can start one in Hampton, GA.

I fit in with most of the above categories. I work in Atlanta so if you are thinking about starting a group that would be convenient to me, I am willing to be of any support that I can.

I live in Lawrenceville, GA and there are no groups here except my surgeons one hour a month which isn't near enough. I would love to have one closer since I'm struggling with regain.

I too would like one in the Henry County area. If I wasnt to attend a goup, I drive to Johns Creek where I had my surgery.

I would love to have a group closer to where I live .... I'm in Henry County GA ... I see a few of the other posters live nearby - that is exciting! Always nice to have someone to talk to who "GETS IT" !

And I've been thinking of going to the group that my surgeon's office offers ... but it's kinda far from home ...

I am interested in talking face to face with people ... Don't get me wrong ... LOVE this forum ...

If there is anything I can do to help the process .... Let me know!

:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
