May 28-31st Sleeve Week!

Recommended Posts

Swedishfish glad you are doing well! Walking around the block is great! I haven't tried cold liquid. I figure since the doc only gives us warm tea and room temp liquid that its not a good idea at this point. But I have been able to get 8 ounces down in the past hour or so, so I think thats good! Things make a funny noise when they go down. But its not painful so I'm happy about that.

Great to hear how everyoe is doing! In a week we will all be moving and grooving and talking who likes what Protein Shakes from where!

I am on day 4 postop. There is no way I could do a Color Run. I sat at the baseball field in a camping chair for 2 1/2 hrs and just that wore me out. I continue to take pain meds but no nausea and gas is less and less. Here is mu diet progression....

Day 0....is the day of surgery

Day 1-4...liquids only including the Protein Shakes

Day 5-14...liquids and semi-liquid including Protein Shake

Week 3 and 4..blended/pureed diet including Protein shakes

Week 5 to 8...soft diet

After 8 weeks...gradually resuming regular low fat low sugar foods as tolerated

Hello, all! It's so nice to see how everyone else is doing and what is comparable and not - to my situation. I was sleeved on the 28th. Came out of it pretty nauseous for a couple hours after. Was afraid to move - in fear of hurling! Dilaudid was my best friend. It was an instant pain fix and I knew nap time came immediately after. Yesterday before I left the hospital they changed me to lortab - which tastes like your typical cough Syrup. Nice to know that I spent $60 on my prescription bottle of it - only to not use one ounce. Pain was not really an issue. I have been pretty lucky. I am on liquid diet til my follow up appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday - then follow up with PCP on Wednesday. We will see what happens then. 5 incisions - I think they may have even used 1 or 2 from my gall bladder surgery years ago :). Napping seems to be on my agenda a lot today. I am told to have 4oz of liquid every hour - can be a mixture of Water and something else - yogurt, Popsicle, whatever - as long as it's 4 oz total to keep hydrated. Pain in my lower back right side just from being o it so much I think. Otherwise: same gurgling - liquidy bm's and all your other stuff. Just can't beeline it's here and gone after all the preparation!!

Forgot to say, glad I brought chapstick and my phone charger to the hospital but wish I had had a back scratcher for all my little itches. I took all pain medicine they offered and all anti nausea meds also. I came home with the patch behind my ear. I hate the nausea more than the pain and trying to keep my ounces of Water and shakes straight.

I don't even get to graduate to all liquids for like 10 days. So the only Protein I can do is Unjury or Isopure. I can imgine if I was doing regular whey Protein Shakes I would feel nausea. Pain isnt too bad especially when sitting still.

Eyes have cleared up! I no longer feel like I'm trying to read drunk :)

kung fu, how are you doing over there a few cities away?

Still gassy, walking a lot with low energy, relaxing by the pool. Still in MX untill Monday. I'm a little worried about the gas- it's terrible, Doc says it's normal. I also had a hyatal hernia fixed. If this is to last another week, that seems so far away!!! A little fire in the stomach once in a while.

That's all folks!

Im so glad that the two things I most dreaded about this surgery; gas pains and hunger, did not occur. My doc suctioned the air back out so no shoulder pain. Ive had a gurgly stomach when I drink myvprotein shake but if I let it rest before next sip, I do ok. Yesterday I drank too fast and made myself and I knew better but I'll blame it on the drugs!

My husband just grilled pork chops and cut up watermelon and I knew it smelled good but it didn't make me hungry and I was fine sitting with the family and sipping my chocolate shake. No hunger pains or thought of trying any of the meal. Thank you, my little frankenbelly, for keeping me on track.

Still trying to work with the stitches and muscle pain when sitting or laying down but if I take my pain pills I hope that pain can be managed.

Great to see the number of the late May sleever's and that you are progressing well. I was sleeved on May 28th last year and don't remember so much activity on the boards then though I was very fuzzy the first week. Good luck to you all and stick to the diet long as you can. Can't believe how little I could take in those first few weeks but all helps in the weight loss as long as you can take in the Water. Still suffering from the gas but always did.

Is anyone crushing meds or Vitamins? . This is the worst part of it all. How are you getting it done?

Was advised by dr ok to take medication as long as it was not bigger than a peanut m&m.

there is a device that crushing meds is easy. Most pharmacies have them. Hope that helps. If not place in ziplock and use rolling pin over meds. That should work!

Unfortunately I have that pill crusher. It's the taste that gags me getting down. My plan calls for liquids, chewables or crushed until I go to solids. 42 days until solids. 2 down. 40 to go. ????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
