May 28-31st Sleeve Week!

Recommended Posts

I'm so inspired by reading all of the "27 ears" great reports. I'm going to be sleeved on July 7th. I'm also anxious to get this party started. In the mean time, I'm trying to increase my walking & focus on increasing my Water intake. Thanks so much for sharing.

a major practice I wish I would have done was no eating and drinking at the same time. Waiting 30 minutes after drinking to start eating and another 30 after eating to start drinking again. It's probably a good idea to try that preop. I never did...

I'm on my way into the hospital and I know I'm forgetting something but can't put my finger on it. Nerves are making me head hungry.

Thanks to all who posted status updates over the past few days. Reading them is one way I'm calming down. If anyone has found a great way to spice up Clear Liquids, let me know!

It seems as though my sergeon removed the majority of my stomach and inserted a snarling gurgling creature. What the heck are these noises that are coming from my abdomen?!?

I've got my IV in, I'm waiting for the next step. I was unlucky and had to put it in my dominant hand. No crocheting in my room for me!

So, 2 days out, and I'm doing ok. Trying to drink, but still not enough to do without and IV. I was able to shower, and that made me feel better. Some gas pain today, but not too bad. Mostly the incisions are just uncomfortable. Also, this feeling of my stomach just tightening up when I drink more than one drop. I'm sure hoping that goes away as I heal, especially since tomorrow I'm supposed to eat some yogurt.

My biggest complaint though is the lack of ice or popsicles! Unsurprisingly the Germans do neither of those things. Very annoying. My kingdom for some ice chips!

I was sleeved May 27th, had no real big pain/gas but my left shoulder was extremely sore - which they said to expect. They gave me couple of heat packs to use and that helped allot. They kept me on IV the 27th and morning of the 28th. But I did get up to walk allot.

I asked about that uncomfortable feeling when drinking and was told it was from all the swelling inside. As the days go on and our healing gets better we will be able to take in more without the uncomfortable feeling.

Just got iv in. Waiting to go. It's really happening. Woohoo

Our doc has us on iv only the first 24 hours before starting Clear liquids so I don't get to do yogurt or puree for quite awhile. It will be interesting in the long run if this makes a difference in years to come in if people's sleeves stretch more than others based on how they heal.

Less than 24 hrs down and I'm already told I can go home. I'm walking and sipping well. No pain when I'm not moving. Pain on my right side feels like a pulled muscle. It's very difficult to get out of bed or lift up when I need to adjust. Dr says its normal.

I hear the first week is the worst. Bring on the next challenge. I'm ready.

anesthesiologist was just here. Spent 10 minutes explain everything and checking for questions. Quiet, super clean hospital with doctors who aren't rushed and talk to you? Sweet

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
