May 28-31st Sleeve Week!

Recommended Posts

I've been up most the night but not because of pain. The guy across the hall feels the need to scream at the top of his lungs every now and then! lol

Hi everyone.. I was sleeved on May 6th and I'm doing pretty good. I can't drink Protein Shakes cause it goes in and right out the other (sorry TMI) but it happens until your body adjust to everything. So I'm stuck eating chicken and fish already to get my Proteins and doing well...I do have an issue that I have asked my doctor about some nerve pain right at my belly button area. It is like a burning pinching pain when I laugh or move wrong. Just wondering if anyone else had this..

May 6 was my date to I have 6 incisions and I'm having pain and twitching in them also . The worst on is wear they took the stomach out. I feel like I did 100 sit ups. I'm going to give the dr a call today. I feel worse now then when I came home. Good luck.. And my dr had me off Protein shakes now.. It's soft veggies, fruit, fish and noodles

I have to check in tomorrow at 6 a.m. for my surgery. So will probably have to get up about 4. Glad I don't have to wait the whole morning to get this going but it sounds like I'll be the first one scheduled. Hope everyone has their morning caffeine before they start !

Yay feeling so much better. Got a shower and some ice chips. Will do some walking around later. I took my prilosec and that helped with nausea.

Well, I survived! I'm doing pretty well all things considered. Some pain with the incisions and when I drink, but no gas pain. I had some visitors today, which was nice. They'll keep me until at least Saturday, but maybe longer depending where I'm at with drinking. Now I'm just gonna relax and watch Orange Is the New Black!

I'm home an settled in here, everything went real with my my surgery and I feel like even my first few days so far. The doctor ended up using robot for my surgery which how it was not his first time using it, it was the first time it was being used at this hospital. this surgeon launched the programs here about two years ago but had come from another hospital at which I believe he also launched that program. They sent me home with liquid Tylenol with codine(spelling) and a pain patch. I feel pretty good so far and have started with my Protein as I'm on an all liquid(not clear) diet for 7 days

Had my surgery today and mostly slept all day, literally just closing my eyes and dropping off in the middle of a conversation. I've had ice chips and sips of tea and Water. I have the button for pain but haven't had to use it too much, just when I turn over in the bed or when I sit up. My doc came by and said surgery went great. He tries to suck gas back out when he's done so that was nice.

First time up to pee and was shaky, burped and had to sit down while gas passed. Now I'm drinking chicken broth from what I always thought were Jello shot plastic cups. Working on 1 little cup and we'll see how that goes.

Hope you all are doing well!

Post op day 2 feeling better than yesterday. Less pain medication than yesterday. Get to start some purée tomorrow. Start new job right after staples out. Still burping with almost each drink. Taking Metamucil in Water to avoid the Constipation issue caused from pain medication. Lots of changes for us in future as far as eating goes. Glad I have you all to talk too. Dr also has support group too. Sounds like everyone is doing good. Keep it up!

Oh my gosh I do that too. Everytime I swallow something I get bubbley and burp lol

Great to see ask you 29s back and feeling ok for the most part.

I think all the docs try to suck up the gas, otherwise we would all look like balloons! Would be funny to see. Lol

I'm having my last supper. Surgeon says the preop diet is to help shrink the liver but one night won't affect it. So we get to eat as much of whatever we want. Pretty cool final day.

That being said, he is very regimented on post op. Some of you go straight to puree?? We are on clears for 5 or 10 days after! Then any liquid for another 10 days. Then puree. I guess he wants to be sure the stomach is healed before food goes in it. Interesting that all our docs are so different!

Went in today for pre op (Soooo much better than 6 months if nonsense with insurance)! There is another couple getting sleeved tomorrow too so I went through preop tests with them. Our surgeon Dr Aceves came in and talked with us for a good hour about every detail and how it works a after and what to expect. I've never had that before! I can't tell you the hair color of past surgeons. Lol

This surgery is a an art so I'm excited to have a passionate surgeon. Feel in very good hands.

Alright 30s, we are up!! sleep well tonight and good luck tomorrow.

Doing good pain not to bad if you brace yourself. It actually feels better to walk. Ice chips for me. Very easy to swallow. On patient controlled pump for pain medication. No waiting! Yeah! Ice on left side where drain is helps. Burping with ice chips, so gas it coming up for me! Glad to see the 27's doing great and posting.

I'm so inspired by reading all of the "27 ears" great reports. I'm going to be sleeved on July 7th. I'm also anxious to get this party started. In the mean time, I'm trying to increase my walking & focus on increasing my Water intake. Thanks so much for sharing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
