Derouin4 30 Posted May 28, 2014 Day 2 post op. Leak test came back good. Pain still at a 1 or 2 w/o pain meds. Hopefully I can go home when the doc makes his rounds :-)
Derouin4 30 Posted May 28, 2014 These folks are playing with my emotions. First they tell me I'm all clear of a leak, then they come back an hour later and tell me I need to re do the leak test for fear of a pin hole leak. Loss of control of my emotions round 1. 1 barbb3 reacted to this

Monte0828 46 Posted May 28, 2014 Made it home. Sipping every 10-15 min to keep hydrated. 2 more days of Clear Liquids then on to purée. Hope everyone else is doing great. Still burping with each sip! Lol they said that would stop eventually. 3 SingleMom33, barbb3 and Nicci829 reacted to this
Derouin4 30 Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) How do they do the leak test? I would be emotional too! You have to take large gulps of contrast while rotating as the radiologist instructs you and takes images. It turned out that the radiologist was concerned b/c my pouch has a jagged edge. Thank goodness there isn't a leak! Edited May 28, 2014 by Derouin4 1 barbb3 reacted to this
Monte0828 46 Posted May 28, 2014 My leak test was done at time of surgery. Dr sends Fluid into new stomach and check for leaks before ending surgery. Not sure I could have drank anything for a radiologist to check me afterwards.

Nicci829 39 Posted May 28, 2014 Yay! So glad to hear everything went well. Did you do the gas strips? Let me know if it helped. I still need to go get some. I brought them but have not used it. My nurse didn't say not to use it but advised I'd be better without. They want you to have and pass gas to be able to get out of here lol

My nurse said that she doesn't see huge gas issues butThen she doesn't know what happens after the patient is discharged.
