My last day of people food is Wednesday (I have to be on pre-op diet for 1 week). It will be tough but since all before us have survived, I am guessing that we can do it.

For me the toughest part is probably to come up with some excuse for my family of why I can't eat their food (we visit almost every weekend). I may be able to skip a visit but skipping 4 weekends of visit or 4 weeks of rejecting their food would look very suspicious.

If you've tried fad diets before (and your family probably knows) Just act like it's that. It's somewhat of a diet....but you know this one will work lol.

Cat

Now you tell us. I was told only in desperation could we have a little bit of chicken. Are you going to the tlbc tonight for the seminar?

Donna,

I won't be able to attend the info session as I live in Alberta. They did send me the powerpoint.

As for the chicken breast, I spoke to Kathy and Daryl again today just to confirm. They said yes, I could go ahead and have that. They did not stress that I should have the chicken breast only when desparate. They simply said yes. Maybe that's because I told them I do not eat cottage cheese. In spite of the permission, I am going to avoid having the chicken breast whenever I can. However, I will eat it if I am too hungry and feel a need to do so.

According to Daryl, our pre-op diet restriction (low fat and something else, I forgot her exact words) is designed to shrink the size of our liver so that it is easier for Dr. Yau to get around it to complete the procedure. Hence, it is important to stick to the diet. A big/swollen liver would make it harder for Dr. Yau to work around.

Robgoblin,

you didn't miss much today. It was a repeat of everything they told me during the consult. They did show us around the sergical rooms and the recovering area which was nice to see. I'm so excited now that my day is getting closer but my head hurts pretty bad today for not eating much.

Hi Jurema: We met at the pre op. It was great meeting with you and I know you will go thru the op with flying colors. One thing about going to the seminars you meet many people face to face and the personal contact is really great. Good luck and think of the end results when you find yourself getting tired of cottage cheese. doddie

Hi Jurema and recovering Donna D. I was thrilled to meet you and the fill went very well. Nancy started with 4 ccs and took one out when the Water didn't go down and then took another one cc out when it still was difficult. I was going to force the water down but one of the "veterans" told me not to do that. If it wasn't going down I needed another defill. So I ended up with 2 ccs. Everything is going down nicely (if I chew) but I am full at the prescribed amount of food (1 cup). I also met the new nutrionist and she is a find. Boy she spent approximately one hour chatting with me as she waited to see someone. She went over my charted food eaten for 5 days and picked it apart. I now know when I was consuming 1200 calories why I was so hungry. Protein was short even though I thought I was meeting the requirements. I also was given a doctors name that will do my fills out here in Vancouver. I will be gong to make the appointment this morning. All in all, I came home glowing with encouragement and enthusiasim. I feel like I am on air as I continue to loose 1 lb a week. Slowly but surely. Hang in there with the cottage cheese diet. It will be worth it. Doddie.

Doddie, thats great news that you found a fill doctor in BC, have you had a chance to call him/her to find out if they will do it for you?

I'm going to be at TLBC on May 4th also for a 2pm info meeting!

 So if you see a red haired fat chick say Hi from the forum.

I'm still fact-finding, but I'm fairly convinced this is what can work for me.

Cheers!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
