She told me that because of a drop in Protein hair loss is common and that she knows many people that put all of the weight back on within 7 years. She made it seem like an ordeal that would yield results that wouldn't last. It was pretty discouraging.

I have heard from another post that if you take Biotin (at drug store) it helps with hair and nails and your skin. Start taking now to get it all in shape. Google it and you can read for yourself.

For any of you looking for some pre- and post-surgery guidelines you can google life after WLS, and you'll find a bunch of stuff about what you can eat and when. The quality of the stuff you'll find is mixed. I recommend looking up the one from the bariatric center at the University of Missouri. It's the best one I've come across and it will answer a ton of questions.

If you are wondering where and how to approach this process, I recommend you find a Bariatric Center of Excellence as a starting point. The staff will have lots of experience, they'll generally advocate for you with your insurance company, and you'll get great care and support--at least you should!

A bunch of people go abroad for this surgery, and you can find their stories on this site--and there's a lot of information about specific doctors! My guy is Paul Macik. I'm in the Atlanta area.

Let's all hang in this together! LP. :-)

This is my first post. I have decided on bariatric surgery and my insurance does not cover ANY TYPE OF BARIATRIC SURGERY. But, with the help of Care Credit, I can finance this. I found Dr Jaime Ponce with Chattanooga Bariatrics accepts Care Credit. So, my first step is the the seminar that is next week on 6/18 which I will attend with my spouse. Wish me luck. Still haven't decided on the band or sleeve.

Vs peck, searching this site for "band to VSG revision" might help w your decision. It's worth looking bc it's a very important choice. Hope you make the one that's right for you. Best to you!

We'll I had my orientation today. Looks like I might be switching to team Bypass. I was told my surgeon will not do the sleeve on anyone with GERD history. I knew this was a concern but I thought it might be more case to case. I am concerned about not being able to take anti inflammatories with the bypass. I see the surgeon in 10 days so I will know more then.

Crosby, I have GERD to and I have my EGD with Bravo next Friday. My surgeon said it was a possibility because of the GERD I my have to have the bypass too! I'm hoping that since it is controlled now with meds that I can still be sleeved.

I thought it would be case by case but if sounds like the surgeon is pretty strict about it...plus I am pre-Barrett's. But I am feeling good about it all. I just am believing the bypass is the route I am suppose to take.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
