Bariatric Advantage Vitamins

Recommended Posts

My NUT recommended getting Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins because I would only need to take 1 per day (in addition to Calcium citrate). Does anyone have experience with this brand that they can share?

And how is the taste compared to other chewable Vitamins?

I take Bariatric Advantage - my doc prescribes 2 per day. The taste is bad at first, but I've gotten used to it - at first they were very bitter. Also, I cannot take them on an empty stomach - I tried again today and felt really sick to my stomach and a little dizzy. If I take it with a shake or a meal, no issues.

Are they similar to Tums? Or more sour tasting?

I take Bariatric Advantage multi w Iron is a cap 3/day and Calcium (wild cherry chewable) 3/day. The calcium tastes great. Not sure why so many Docs recommend chewable. That said I'm looking to switch as takng 6 times per day is a pita.

I take the Bariatric Advantage Multi Capsules, 3 a day. I started these once I started eating solid food and haven't had any issues, except I have to take them with food or I get nauseous. My doc and nutritionist both said there is no reason for a chewable once you are on solid food, so I happily obliged as I hated all the chewables I tried.

@@GingerSlim - at first I found them more sour than a Tums. More like bitter. As I kept taking them, I got over that bitterness. Now, I hardly notice it at all. I've gotten used to them now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
