jodyjetson 72 Posted May 26, 2014 Hi! Before I got sleeved May 1, 2014 I thought the idea of using babyspoons was crazy but I honestly think it's been so helpful for me. It insures that I take small bites reminds me to eat slowly. I noticed that when I have eaten out at a resturant I am overwhelmed when they bring me my big bowl of Soup so I often ask for a smaller bowl and spoon to make me feel more comfortable. I like to finish what is in front of me so I portion out what I want to eat and have the rest packaged up for later. I continue to not be hungry - thought I get cranky and then I know I should eat. Really I love being sleeved, down 21 pounds so far and feeling great! I love reading people's posted and get inspired everyday. 1 star21nd reacted to this
shahada 82 Posted May 26, 2014 I bought really cute small forks, spoons, bowls and plates from Crate and Barrel and I must say, I too am having a similar experience. YAY for using small stuff 1 jodyjetson reacted to this
SwanRose 86 Posted May 26, 2014 I saw a really useful tip on YouTube recently: Buy a set of collapsible silicone measuring cups and take the appropriate sized one (according to where you are in your post-op diet) to a restaurant with you in a baggie. Then you can measure out the food you want and put it on a smaller plate. The measuring cup gets collapsed, wrapped in a paper napkin and goes back in the baggie. I thought that was a very neat idea, so I'll be buying a set. 3 queenie47, hockeywife91 and lookingfwd2beinghealthyagn reacted to this
hockeywife91 106 Posted May 26, 2014 I use a baby spoon, a Hors D'oeuvres fork and a 1 ounce shot glass to drink out of LOL I'm only 11 days out and this helps me with Portion Control. Per my doctors instructions, I'm to have 1 ounce every 15 minutes, so this helps me.
par1959 470 Posted May 26, 2014 Great write up on how to adapt to eating slow. I need all the good ideas I can get. This is one area where I have concerns. Surgery on Wednesday. When you get cranky its time to eat, love it. Are we related?. Keep up the good work.
Teachamy 1,042 Posted May 26, 2014 I say, whatever works! Still using a baby spoon every once in a while too. It slows me down!
WombatVSG 56 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) I've attached a picture of my Crate & Barrel dish, spoon and fork (hope the attachment works). I added the Bracelet partly to indicate size, but also-- the egg shaped charm was my goal bite size when I was starting out. I can take bigger bites now (though I probably shouldn't). That charm helped me stay on track. Edited May 26, 2014 by WombatVSG 1 TovaNJ reacted to this
jodyjetson 72 Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks for posting the Crate and Barrel small utensil idea. I immediately went out and bought some and also purchased some very cute colourful bowls as well. Perfect! 1 DarbiMolly reacted to this
