I am 17 days post op and have lost 17 pounds. I just started puréed foods this past Friday and am still havering a difficult time getting all my liquids in. Today, I helped plant some flowers and I didn't wear my binder (trying to stop) and now I am sore along my abdomen. I thought it was on my incision sites, but it wasn't and now I'm worried. Could I have caused a leak? Did I just overdo it? I feel fine otherwise- no fever, no pains, no upset tummy, nothing. Any info would be appreciated ????

I would say, with none of those symptoms you definitely wouldn't if hurt your sleeve , my guess is that you just have sore muscles, they have been through a lot a past couple of weeks

My main pain, even right after, was never at the incision sites, but a little to the right of the biggest incision. My doctor said that there would be more tenderness than just the incision spots (which I noticed very badly after weeding along our fenceline yesterday.) Sounds like you probably just overdid it a bit. Take it easy for a day or two and see if it feels better.

Hey Amanda2014 I just saw my doctor for the same thing. He told that it is common for that area to be sore because that's where they pull the stomach out. He told me they do put in sutures in that area and those can sometimes stretch, causing the soreness. As long as you don't have any symptoms you should be ok. But it never hurts to check with your doctor.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
