MAMITA518 0 Posted May 26, 2014 HOW LONG AFTER SURGERY DOES SWELLING LAST? IT'S BEEN 11 DAYS SINCE SURGERY STILL TAKES ME OVER 1/2 HR TO EAT 2-3 OZ OF CREAMED food, "IT" DOES NOT HURT WHEN SWALLOWING BUT DO GET FULL AFTER 2 OR 3 TEASPOONFULS, IS THIS NORMAL?? DOES OR DID ANY ONE EXPERIENCE THIS??
Kindle 8,667 Posted May 26, 2014 I was still on liquids until day 18, but even then I would get stuffed on 1-2 tablespoons of puréed food. I could eat a little more after a month, but then when I started soft foods I was back at square one...only 1-2 tablespoons would leave me full for most of the day. Started feeling normal about 3 months out.
BladeFox 235 Posted May 26, 2014 I didn't have a swollen stomach. My doctor said that he tried to express all the gas out before I went to recovery. So glad that he did that.
Kindle 8,667 Posted May 26, 2014 I think she was talking about actual stomach/sleeve swelling from the cutting and stapling which causes increased restriction early on, not abdominal swelling from the gas. At least that's what I was referring to in my reply. As for the gas, I really didn't have any issues with that either.

Enjoy the feeling that you can be full with such a small amount. Are you getting all your fluids and Protein in?
