I am *allowed* to eat regular foods now (except rice, Pasta, bread, tortillas, crackers, etc. for 6 months) but I'm having a really hard time with eating now. :(

I'm only able to eat about half of my 1/3 C portion the last few days. Just a few small bites and I'm done, or at least my sleeve is done. My brain wants to keep eating! After those few bites my sleeve starts to feel uncomfortable. It's hard to describe, it's kind of like indigestion I guess, that's the closest I can come to describing it. And queasy. Not full-blown "I have to throw up" nausea, but a mild nausea that leaves me just feeling "yucky" and not wanting to eat anything. This feeling lasts for 4-6 hours until it's time to eat again. I have my few bites, and it starts all over again. :(

I don't know what's going on, I wish I could call my doctor, but it's a holiday weekend. I'm wondering if this is related to my experience on Thursday...I ate a hard boiled egg for Breakfast. It sat in my sleeve like a rock all day, leaving me nauseas. I barely ate anything else the rest of the day and went to sleep that night hoping the rock would be gone by the next morning. Funny thing is, I can tolerate egg salad just fine. I think the boiled egg by itself was just too dry. Anyway it's been since then that I've been having tummy problems so I wonder if it caused some inflammation in my sleeve?

I'm allowed to have a tender salad, veggies, nuts, meats, etc now but I'm afraid to put anything like that in my sleeve so I'm still eating mushies and still don't feel good after eating. I struggle to get 300 calories in per day, 20 oz Water and 25g Protein. My body is in starvation mode, I'm fatigued and don't feel like I'm losing weight (although to be fair, I don't have a scale).

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I just stop worrying because it will pass on its own soon? I'm feeling icky, exhausted, and having some "buyer's remorse" about having the surgery at this point...............

OMG. You took the words right out of my mouth. Although my food was chicken rather than a boiled egg I experienced exactly the same thing. I am lucky to get 20 oz of Water and a Popsicle down most days. This is worst I've felt since my surgery a month ago. I am hoping it gets better.

Oh boy.....I was worried so I called my surgeon's exchange. The resident on-call called me right back. He wants me to go into the hospital and get some labs done, some IV fluids since I'm most likely dehydrated, an upper GI to rule out any problems and possibly endoscopy. :(

My question to both of you, are you hungry when you feel this way? Do you have cravings? Or just feel full?

I'm not hungry, I'm queasy and my sleeve feels tight. I definitely have cravings and MY BRAIN WANTS TO EAT but my sleeve says, NO WAY. :(

I am not hungry. I feel nauseated most of the time (although I take meds for it) I'm trying to really focus today. I've gotten 28oz of Water and 30 grams of Protein. After eating the chicken I had sharp pains in my stomach - that has gotten better.

I am in the same time frame as you. I can ONLY eat 2oz before I get heartburn which is the sleeves way of telling me I am full. I can get about 30-40 oz of Water in. Stay away from nuts, plain eggs, leafy veggies and do try to get more water in. This is what may be making you feel nausea also with any foods too fibrous as to which you say you a the eating.

So glad you called the doctor. You definitely need an IV of Fluid. It will give you some energy and make you feel some better. I hope the tests don't find anything wrong but please do keep us up to date. So sorry you are having this problem. It isn't the norm. Dry foods like white meat chicken, hard boiled eggs, nuts and things of that sort are difficult to eat for most of us. Make chicken salad or tuna salad out of that meat. You need the fat and the moisture helps the taste and it goes down so much easier. Scrambled eggs are better for you than hard boiled eggs. Water by itself is difficult going down. Add a flavor enhancer and it will go down easier. Take care, Janet

They have admitted me to the hospital. Interestingly enough, I have one of the same nurses I had a month ago for my surgery. They are keeping me overnight so I can have my upper GI tomorrow since I don't think they do them on Sundays. :(

I'll update when I get my lab results back.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
