Dani_elle86 20 Posted May 25, 2014 Hello! Im looking for some advice, or maybe something to look forward to. I'm 5 days post op and just started full liquids. I still don't feel hungry and have been doing really well-haven't needed pain or nausea medicine for a few days now. I know I'm still a long way off from eating whole foods, but I was wondering when everyone started incorporating fruits and veggies into their diets? My parents have a huge garden full of beautiful vegetables like broccoli, string Beans, tomatoes, and beets. Plus, I live in Amish country so soon all the fresh fruits will be in. That's one of the best parts of summer-all the fresh and affordable produce. I'm wondering if it's a matter of what my new stomach can handle (perhaps puréed fruits and veggies?) or if I should wait until a certain stage? Thanks in advance! CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted May 25, 2014 Most surgeons have an eating plan.... Clear Liquids then full liquids then mushy food...gently working up to solid. Veggies are part of that progression. At 2.5 years out I mostly eat Protein, veggies and berries to maintain....so very important just don't rush it. Quanties should be tiny at first too.
psychoangel 8 Posted May 25, 2014 My doctor said at 3 months out I can add very small portions of fruit and vegs. They want you to get mostly Protein in. 2 Lilypad16 and Texasmeg reacted to this
MaMa DeB 21 Posted May 25, 2014 I am now 6weeks out and at 5 weeks I was given my new diet plan which includes fresh fruit and veggies. Of coarse u do protien first so there really is no room for them unless u eat them as one of ur meals. I have on occasion because the cool refreshing feeling of fruit is nice on these hot days.
