May 21st! And Freaking Out!

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I got sleeved on the 21st. Everything went well in the hospital, no drains. In recovery, I did need the pain medicine, however now (at home), I've only taken it at night. I constantly feel full and am having issues taking in the required Protein and liquid.< /p>

I am 4 days postop and I tried yogurt yesterday but since then I have felt unbelievably full and couldn't handle drinking Water. After the yogurt I couldn't eat or drink anything. Does this mean I stretched my sleeve? Maybe I pushed it too far? Anyone feel like this?

Another thing, is it bad I keep sleeping on my belly?

I also keep getting Charlie horses in my legs, anyone else get these?

Thanks

Jess

Hi congratulations! I was sleeved April 28, 2014 and I hD a hard time with Protein and Water it gets easier just drink as much as you can. I wasn't allowed and food for 2 1/2 weeks only water or protein. I still have a hard time getting all liquids in but it's much easier. What your feeling is normal.

I never had Charlie horses. And I don't see how your sleeping on your stomach wow I couldn't even lay on my side the first few days.

It gets easier glad your on this journey so worth it! I'm down 30lbs tomorrow I hit 4 weeks post op!

They said yogurt, puddings, and very thin purées are part of stage I.

Has anyone else had yogurt this quickly? I think I am going to hold off on it since I was so full and became nauseous when I tried to drink after some time afterwards.

Charlie horses are common for those who do not get enough Water. Drink! You are likely getting dehydrated. Don't worry about eating this early on in your recovery. Focus on water first! Call your dietitian. They can be very helpful in getting you through the stages of post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
