sleeved215 23 Posted May 25, 2014 Today is my first day back to work since surgery on 4/29, actually since 4/27 which was my last day. I'm excited to get back in the swing of things but I'm nervous to be out in the real world with my new sleeve. Day 1 and I already know I won't be getting a lunch break but now I have to figure out how to get my protein/fluids in during my 9hr shift... Ugh this is so illegal lol

TabisFab 0 Posted May 25, 2014 If you don't mind me asking, what kind of work do you do? I have a feeling that I will be in the same boat once I have the surgery as well. I get a lunch break, but what I actually do for 4-5 hrs. a day restricts just about all intake of anything.
Harley59 67 Posted May 25, 2014 Hi, I was so scared to go back to work and be in the "real" world. I drank 3 premier Protein drinks. I was fine with just that and got my 90 grams of Protein a day. Then I started to bring Soup for a change. No one noticed, no one cared. Now I have a yogurt or cottage cheese and 4 ritz crackers. I am 5 weeks out and doing fine. My only problem is being with others at times and needing to eat slow. It will work out. Just remember protein first!!! If the premier Protein shake is too heavy for your new tummy, cut it with milk. Good luck. You will be fine.
raychel74 22 Posted May 25, 2014 I'm 6 weeks out and it seems like a million years ago since I was back to work for the first time. Trust me when I say that people aren't watching your every move, like it feels they are. I just told people I was doing a cleanse and hitting the reset button, that's why I was off coffee and having shakes. I got nothing but encouraging words. Now that I'm down 30lb and 6 weeks out, everyone just thinks it's because I've been dieting and watching what I eat ( which is the truth) EVERYBODY WINS! Plus now is a great time because everyone is trying to get in shape for summer and so are you Good luck! 1 brightlikeadiamond reacted to this
cld987 1 Posted May 25, 2014 I am also worried about returning to my job. I do assembly line work in the car industry ( no major heavy lifting) but I too am worried about the Water intake. My surgery is on June 28 and I will return to my job July 9. I hope that is long enough to be able to perform my job duties without pain or irritation. Any thoughts are appreciated. sleeved215 23 Posted May 26, 2014 My concern isn't people noticing anything, I was very upfront with my entire staff about my process. I work at a plus size clothing store and all the women are struggling like myself with their weight so I got nothing but support. I usually get a break but usually not Sundays. I was nervous because I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time to sit down and eat and get my fluids. I didn't have an issue with foods but I am having an issue with fluids since starting back work. I only drank 16 ounces so far today, not including my 8 ounce Protein Shake
raychel74 22 Posted May 26, 2014 Can you have a Water bottle around- that helps me get my fluids in. I find without my water bottle , I don't get my fluids in as easily. I got this one at Target for $7 , it's about 32oz. I have at least 2 a day, it's way easier than drinking from a glass.
easnj 10 Posted May 26, 2014 my surgery date was also 4/29 and I went back to work exactly 3 weeks later. Im a nurse who works the night shift and the first 2 shifts were tough.I think just getting used to moving around for 8 hours was the reason. Ive been fortunate enough to have time to get my food and fluids in. Gook luck!
cushy 117 Posted May 26, 2014 A small insulated cooler works wonders!!
cherrytree15 78 Posted May 26, 2014 It actually is illegal and you should be getting at least 30 mins and two 15s. Hopefully you can just use some time to sip and work if you don't get a REAL break. If you get dehydrated and pass out its not helping anyone.
cld987 1 Posted May 26, 2014 I actually do get 1 30 min break and 2 10 min breaks but it's just so hot were I work I just worry about walking off my job so much. Other people have ruined the Water on the job situation for the rest of us
cherrytree15 78 Posted May 26, 2014 Away, maybe you can get a letter from doc requiring you to drink Water, so you don't have issues.
