fuzzymonkey 38 Posted May 24, 2014 Am 5 weeks out an I know that I am to aim for 500 calories and 60-70 Protein a day, but I am only getting 300 calories and about 30-40 protein a day.... Any advice? I am only eating the suggested 3 meals a day, but for the sake of recommended daily allowances I was thinking of having a 4th meal. Good idea or not? 2 jenngottaloseit and BeagleLover reacted to this
psychoangel 8 Posted May 24, 2014 I think its ok as long as its a high Protein meal. 2 BeagleLover and jenngottaloseit reacted to this
WhoKnows 288 Posted May 24, 2014 You could add a Protein shake as a snack or a last meal of the day. I think as long as you're still getting most of your calories from regular food, getting some extra Protein from a shake is nothing to look down on (I have the impression the vast majority of us use them for a while after surgery, some people even into maintenance). 2 jenngottaloseit and BeagleLover reacted to this
fuzzymonkey 38 Posted May 24, 2014 I do a shake in the morning 5 oz. because when I go back to work in a week eating a Breakfast will not be a routine for me, instead sipping on my breakfast will be. But that is a good idea to maybe take my meds with a shake. 2 BeagleLover and jenngottaloseit reacted to this
LumpySpacePrincess 594 Posted May 25, 2014 You're fine. I'm 6 months out and I only get in about 600 on a good day.
AJ-NC 26 Posted May 25, 2014 My surgeon and nutritionist recommends at least 4 small meals a day. So, I do a shake for breakfast, then 3 small high-protein meals each day.
Stacy_wls 135 Posted May 25, 2014 I would have been way under my goals that early out with just 3 meals a day. I would for sure add in some Protein shakes. My nutritionist said it isn't grazing if it is planned & tracked. I have Snacks scheduled throughout the day - it keeps me on track. 3 WhoKnows, thesuse2000 and able2cope reacted to this
