Had surgery Monday and I'm stuck in 2 weeks of Clear liquids. I'm feeling very jealous and deprived when I see people eating

Solids and regular food.< /p>

Anyone feel like this?

Tell me about regular foods you can eat past the 6 week mark. Tell me once in a while you taste something sweet or crunchy.

Please!!

Soy crisps, Protein balls made with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate Protein and oatmeal, sugar free popsicles. My daughter who had the same surgery before me, said "MOM, if you do this right, you only have to do this one time!!!"" I had my surgery Nov. 12, 2012, so was on full liquids for Thanksgiving so had a pumpkin Protein shake, and at Christmas, I was on soft foods. It is not the end of the world, and you will get there!!! Now 1 1/2 years out and below goal weight. Am 67 and lost over 100 pounds!! Off many meds, so you can do this. Just keep telling yourself that!!

oh my gosh I was on liquids for five weeks and thought I would never see real food again. I have graduated some and worry constantly. I can eat five bites max at a time and am full. I do get to taste real food lol. I thought this day never would come. Let your stomach heal and you will enjoy small amounts but real food again.

Oh yes, you will enjoy foods again you just wont depend on them to fill guilt or unhappiness. You are eating to live and not living to eat. I am 5months post. Your mind set will change toward food if you commit to the whole lifestyle change. I love my Protein shakes cuz they are sweet and u use chocolate preotein once in a while too for that fix. I eat watermelon and other fruits that are sweet. I also have clif builders bar and they remind me of a candy bar. You can have special K chips or pop chips for snacking. I also like the 100 cal bags of popcorn. Oh and you will be surprised how flavorful things will become. I have really learned how to use different spices amd seasonings since my main staple is chicken. Need to make it different all the time. You will get thru the liquid and soft food. Just follow all the rules and life will be great. Make sure u get in ur Proteins and then enjoy some other things. You will slowly integrate almost all foods back in. I just stay away from Pasta and most starch and limit my bread to once or twice a week. I am down 94lbs in my 5 months. I wish you all the best and it will get better and easier to make the healthy choices. And dont forget the exercise. So important too.

100%. I felt the exact same way! Life after the sleeve requires change, but you can definitely still enjoy food! And a plus, I've learned control. I never had that before!!! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
