chuckV51 0 Posted April 16, 2007 Howdy gang. This is our first time to this site. My wife was banded on 4-6-07 and I was banded on 4-13-07. Our doctor is Dr. Marsden out of Lewisville Tex. I was wondering if we should be taking protien while on the clear liquid stage of diet. wish us luck
juliegeraci 7 Posted April 16, 2007 Hi Chuck, congrats to the both of you for being banded. If your doctor allows Protein Shakes I would definitely try and drink a couple a day. I use GNCs Protein shakes and they have 25 grams of protein for 250 calories. Hope this helps. Good luck. Julie
Brittany 0 Posted April 16, 2007 I was told to continue the Protein Shakes as soon as I was up to it after surgery, so my guess is yes. Good luck!!
momashed 0 Posted April 16, 2007 :clap2: You can also put Protein in Soup, good luck to the two of you.

Sounds like you are really in this together--a family starting the journey together. Good luck to you both! Every doctor is different and my doctor wanted me adding Protein during Clear liquids but ONLY clear Proteins. I used Isopure. The pre-mixed drink was too sweet for me but I diluted it 1:1 and it was fine. I also used (and still use now) Isopure Protein powder--I love both the chocolate and the vanilla. While on Clear Liquids I mixed it with Water, which was tolerable, but now, since full liquids, I mix it with milk every morning and LOVE it. Some doctors seem to allow slim fast drinks during clear liquids but my doctor was very firm about not drinking anything that you couldn't see through. I'd give the dr. a call just to be sure before you drink something not clear. Congrats to both of you! :clap2: Karen
Teachlady 3 Posted April 16, 2007 You really need to check with your doctor and nutritionist. Each one is different. My doctor does not require me to drink Protein Shakes, in fact says not to. My Protein for the first month comes from yogurt and skim milk. Again.. check with your doc.
Autumn444 0 Posted April 16, 2007 ISOPURE! it is non dairy and has serveral fruit flavors. It is simaler to Crystal light but with a ton of Protein. You can get these at GNC or other health food shops. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. Congrats on the tandom banding! I wish you well!
