2muchfun 8,927 Posted May 24, 2014 Make everyone wait on you. Don't be a heroine. Be lazy and let yourself heal. Don't eat anything you're not supposed to eat. You may feel hungry and feel like you can eat anything, but don't. Your sutures need to heal. BTW-Most of the gas was pumped into your abdominal cavity and will take several days to dissipate. And yes, walking and heating pads can help. That's all I got. Welcome to the other side and lots of luck and well wishes. 1 Bandista reacted to this
Bandista 7,466 Posted May 24, 2014 Congratulations! So happy for you. My only advice is that it's nice to have a journal to look back on later -- all the things you are looking forward to, the reasons for having the surgery, etc. I also watched every movie in my queue and walked around our driving circle hundreds of time in that first week. Best wishes for the exciting times ahead. I am six months out and can't really recall the incisional pain now -- and I had no idea I'd be feeling this happy. I was happy before but this joy and elation are new factors in my life. I'm out of food jail! 2 2muchfun and UbermenchPosibility reacted to this

betty_s 476 Posted May 27, 2014 Congrats!! My advice is just take it easy! Don't push yourself. I hate being taken care of, but i tried to be the "Diva" my doctor told me to be. Ibuprofen PM (checked with my doctor to make sure it was ok) at night and a heating pad during the day were my best friends. I had a lot of soreness/swelling on the port side, so it wasnt until about day 9 or 10 that i actually felt like i could get off the couch or out of bed without pain. I know some people get tired of them, but I love the sf tropical popsicles.
