Hi ToyToy,

Welcome!

Have you been following up with your surgeon, and getting adjustments to your band?

Are you saying you are 15 lbs heavier than when you had your surgery, or have recently gained 15 lbs?

Did your band ever provide you with any help or has it just seemed like a diet for you?

I'm just trying to get an idea where you may be with restriction level.

As far as the 5 day pouch test, it is used by many, to varying degrees of success....depending somewhat on how your band may or may not be adjusted.

I gained the 15 recently my band was at a perfect fill and I hadn't been back recently for a fill. I know the problem I'm not following my plan at all. I was thinking of doing the 5 day pick test to get back on track. My eating habits is honestly what's wrong.

This is very similar to what I'll do occasionally.

I do a variation of the 5 day pouch test every 6-8 weeks or so, for general maintenance, or when I notice a difference in band performance...

Going all liquids for a few days, for me, returns my band to that optimum place...it WILL NOT give you something you never had in the first place.....

You never said how much you have in your band....

Also, when I read posts like this, I have to ask...when you were loosing weight, and eating was under control, would you say it was the band controlling your food intake, or was it more you determining how much, what and when to eat....

I'm one of those people who are more concerned on what the band is, or is not doing....that's why I had surgery in the first place after all, so I do expect something from it....something I could not achieve without surgical intervention.

My band was working great at 5cc and I actually was 20 away from my goal. I just lost focus and my eating habits went bad. I need to focus and contribute to what the band was helping me do. I'm going to try the 5 pouch test and get back focus then go to my doctor if it needs tighten

Hi, I'm Rosemary. I am 63 yrs old and I was banded on Nov.13th. I have lost 50 lbs and have well over 100 to go. I've been slipping, sliding and generally not paying attention, not flowing the rules very closely. I just returned from a 32 day vacation and today started to try the 5 day pouch test. I wanted something to help me get back on track quickly and really focus on what I need to be doing. So far, so good. I was professional at yo-yo dieting in my past life and don't want to live that way. I had the procedure to gain some quality of life and improve my health, the weight loss I expect to come along with that as I change my lifestyle permanently. My best to you, we can do this !! My mantra for today has been "follow the rules and use the tool". My email address is granniero@bellsouth.net if you would like to communicate there. Be blessed !

Well I'm on day 5 of the 5 day pouch test. I'm really surprised at how much I feel my restriction. I'm not hungry and feel like I have regained my focus.

I have scheduled an appointment to get a fill but it's not until September 3rd. So I'm going to help the band do what it's intended to do with me staying focus. Thanks for responding it feels good to have support.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
