New pant size, no lost weight - How does this happen?

Recommended Posts

My pants are falling off, yet I do not show a budge on the scale- How does this happen?

February 19, 2014- had surgery- not perfect eater, but try and get in all my Protein and Water

My body keeps shifting every so many months. I usually gain weight or hold weight in my stomach, when I lose, it is not always in the stomach, so then I feel really fat again because my stomach protrudes. The I will lose in the stomach and feel more proportionate. The it starts all over again, Now I have lost weight, my pants fall off, but I still have a bigger stomach. Does this happen to anyone else? In the beginning I lost all boobs, but they are fine now. The only other problem is I have Hair loss. I have stalls, but then a week or so later I drop several pounds, so I don't call them stalls anymore.

that is reality that you are losing (actual weight)...the scale is not a great almighty to if a person is losing. however clothes sizes are...great job......i see no worrying needed on your part..your body loses as your body sees fit..even if the scale hardly moves, or not at all, the WLS we have and our body is still working..stay the course and as you wrote, the pounds are coming off

I love losing inches....It is so great when you go a size down in clothing...Makes me really excited no matter what the scale says!

Just keep swimming, your doing great!!!!!!!!!

And that's why people shouldn't let the numbers on the scale dictate how they feel. I actually gained 3 pounds between weeks 6 and 10 but lost a whole pant size. My boobs have shrunk immensely and I have no butt (I've NEVER not had a butt) so even as I lose weight, I'm no longer shaped " normal". But that's OK, nothing I can do about it so no sense fretting over it. No math formula or dietician's plan can explain what happens to our bodies, so just keep doing what you are doing because it's obviously working.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
