I got my band on May 6th. I have a very hard time getting my fluids and Protein in. I really have a hard time getting my fluids because I don't have time it sip all day long. However, sometimes if want a glass of Water so bad. My question is what happens if you were to just drink a glass of water to quench your thirst? Does it tear things loose? Does it stretch your pouch? Or is it just to get you used to having smaller amounts of food in your mouth?

That is what usually happens, and I am almost 5 years out! Even today, if I drink too fast it will come back up, or I will feel miserable for a long time until it finally goes down, it is best to drink sips, or at least slowly!

you just need to sip and keep on sipping...you are so very swollen from surgery yet and it would be very hard to knock back a glass of water...so dont do it..you need to stay hydrated so just take sips here and there....you will need to do what you have to do..i asked my dr after banding, water/liquids go straight on through...no worries...but too much at one time and it could come back up (picture a funnel...too much and it doesnt go down)...as the swelling goes down, and it will, you will drink/eat per normal..give yourself some time to heal on the inside while getting your head together on the outside...congrats on your surgery.....

I had very little swelling and I've always been able to drink freely.

At first, I sipped my Water. But now, 8 months later, I find I drink Water "normally" with no real problems. I have to sip my Protein shakes in the morning, but they are thicker and...well...it's the morning and things aren't quite awake yet :)

Congratulations on your surgery -- important to get the fluids in, of course. Some experience more inflammation than others. After surgery and now after getting fills I feel "tighter" and can't glug back my bottles of Water -- but then when the swelling goes down I am able to drink freely. Like many others, I do better with a warm beverage in the mornings. We are all different, of course, and you'll have your own mode. Just know you're still healing up. Best wishes to you!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
