lifeguardmgr 5 Posted May 21, 2014 I went to the Dr. today for my first fill and learned that my port flipped. I started sobbing when he told me. The pain after surgery was almost unbearable and here Im looking at another surgery on Tuesday. My Dr. is amazing and he told me this isn't a big deal, I totally trust him. However, because I was a crying mess I didn't ask specifics. Can I go to work the next day? When can I start working out again? Did I cause this from starting P90x too soon post op? Any advice on this is greatly appreciated!!!
kll724 3,055 Posted May 22, 2014 Maybe is the only answer I or any of us can give. Call your surgeon's office and ask those questions. Best wishes to you!

Any advice on this is greatly appreciated!!! It really is incredibly minor. My port flipped the first month too. I was a little sore after the procedure to flip it back and suture it in place, but nothing like after the actual band surgery. I went back to normal life immediately. I didn't even need pain pills. My port is now sewn into my muscle fascia. Ports flip for all sorts of reasons, but one is bending excessively within the first couple weeks and lifting weights within the first month. You are supposed to take it easy in those first weeks in order for you to develop scar tissue to hold the port in place. Well it's kinda hard to do that in general. Ask and see if they will give you a fill during the procedure. I got my first fill at that time. Edited May 22, 2014 by fatty2hottie
lifeguardmgr 5 Posted May 23, 2014 Thank you so much!!! After I spoke to my surgeon today and could speak without crying he explained everything. Im going to get a fill and fix the port. I was so scared I was going to have that pain after the initial surgery. That terrified me!!! Additionally, I can go back to work, however, I just need to be cautious of bending, lifting, etc. I learned my lesson. Gonna stick to supervising lifeguards and stay away from the water!!! Thank you again!!!
ChristineZ 41 Posted June 23, 2014 How did it go?? My port flipped as well and my surgery is on the 30th to fix it
lifeguardmgr 5 Posted June 23, 2014 Christine, it was totally painless. I cant believe I was so upset for no reason. The procedure was done on Tuesday and I was back to work on Wednesday. The worst part of it was I couldn't go to the beach for 10 days (because of the incisions). Best of luck, and dont worry about it.....Its totally cake. ChristineZ 41 Posted July 1, 2014 I got my port flipped back yesterday! I was in pain. I'm still very sore! He removed some fat to get to my port easier and my tummy is very bruised! I was and still am kinda sickly feeling. It's better then yesterday but I couldn't believe it was as sore as it was/is! I wonder if it's from them being rough or the fat he took out that made it so sore! How is everything going now? Are you at your green zone yet?
lifeguardmgr 5 Posted July 1, 2014 Hi Christine: I think that "Green Zone" is an urban legend, lol. I feel no restriction. I am losing weight but its because Im working out and eating better. Im still hungry and feel like I could totally overeat with no problem. Consequently, I had a life changing surgery so my brain controls my overeating. Lol.
