Betsyjane 2 Posted April 23, 2007 Hi! I used to be up there in the Metroplex...now in Houston and loving being banded.
Carlene 12 Posted April 23, 2007 I live in North Richland Hills (between Dallas and Ft Worth), but once lived in Mineola, so I know where all those "foreign" places are: Quinlan, Forney, Tyler, etc. And I used to have a camper on Lake Tawakoni. My doctor was Adam Smith in Ft Worth. I am half of a banded couple, as my DH went under the knife two weeks after I did. I've recently had some issues with a dilated esophagus, so I'm almost completely unfilled right now and limited to liquids/mushies until May 7th. It's been over 2 years since I felt real, intense hunger and now I'm eating everything in sight!
lizrbit 0 Posted April 23, 2007 carlene, i hope you get better soon. I used to have an aunt who lived in mineola.
cfred 2 Posted April 23, 2007 Wow, there really is a lot of people from the Dallas/Ft Worth area on here. I'm actually live in Wylie.. I'm starting to get really nervous about becoming banded. Of course all the "bad" things that can happen have been doing nothing but going through my head. It seems like everytime I tell someone that I'm getting the band, this is what I hear.. "that's great, I know so and so who had it done and they weigh more now than before having it done" - I HATE it when people say that to me... I come back with "well I plan to follow my Dr's orders, sounds like they did not". I'm sure as my surgery date gets closer I'll get more nervous but until then I will continue to drink my two shakes a day and eat my one healthy meal. Betsyjane 2 Posted April 23, 2007 I decided to quit telling people. They always want to know what I weigh now. The other thing I got was that I was taking the easy way out. Bull. The band just helps me succeed at all the hard work.

The band just helps me succeed at all the hard work. That is what I will have to start doing... I know that if I put my mind to it I will succeed. mousecrazy 2 Posted April 23, 2007 Hi to all the Texans! I live in Sanger, which is north of Denton. I grew up in the suburbs of Dallas, so am familiar with that area, also. When people say that someone has gained all their weight back after surgery, make sure they are talking about someone who has had LAPBAND surgery, not gastric bypass. People are often confused about the different types of surgery. Welcome to LBT...there's lots of good info here! Cindy

I am hoping to hear from my insurance company next week sometime and then get a date set! We really should plan to get together! While I live in Quinlan, I work in Dallas and come through Forney every day! *giggle* We could eat at Chili's, order the child's plate and have leftovers for 2 days
Macysgranny 1 Posted April 23, 2007 I am going to Dr. Stephan, to answer your earlier question Cheryl. I called my insurance company this morning and they have my paperwork and said to call back Thursday and they should have a decision by then. I am quickly learning that patience is not a virtue I possess! I am on a time crunch because we are changing insurance companies on July 1 and one of the top companies they are considering won't cover the surgery at all and the other two have a lot more hoops to jump thru than BCBS of CA does....wish me luck!
