90 Day Supervised Diet - Can You Lose Too Much?

Recommended Posts

I start my 90 day physician-supervised diet that is required for insurance next week. Right now my BMI is around 41 or 42. What if I lose enough to drop below a BMI of 40? With no other co-morbidities, will I not be approved? Has anyone had this happen?

From what I understand from dozens of posts and what I learned at my seminar, was they use your initial statistics, not your post-supervised diet numbers. You should be fine.

Good luck!

I'm so glad you asked this! (And that PdxMan answered it) I was really sweating this for exactly the same reason. I can't do my surgery for another few weeks just because of vacations and other issues, but I still plan to be strict on my diet and exercise... I've already fallen below 40 BMI but I still have a long way to go!!

I was instructed to not go below the 40 BMI, because my insurance wouldn't cover it if I did. So during my 6 month supervised diet, I had to control my loss. I'm sure every insurnace company is different, but that is what was suggested / told to me by my NUT..
