Surgery tomorrow! Need support!

Oh missy...I'm sure you're disappointed but try to remember the hardest part is over. The band and port are placed...he just has to close it. Wishing you much luck over the next three weeks. Follow the doctor's orders and you will do fine. And remember...we didn't gain it overnight so don't expect to lose it that way either. This is a lifetime change and three weeks won't mean anything a year from now.

Keep us posted.

That's exactly the attitude I have! I keep saying, three weeks isn't anything when you think about the span of life! I am disappointed but really I'm ok! I'm glad he made the decision to stop instead doing it blind! That's for sure!!!! He explained it to my mom and myself just like this: he didn't explain well enough or at all for that matter that I needed to watch what I ate for the previous two weeks. And of course, I love good. So I ate any and everything I could get my hands on kinda like a goodbye yummy food, fast food, etc..... And with me being self pay I didn't have a scope to see everything. But I know this is God's plan and I will be obedient to the doctor and to The Lord! Thanks for the encouragement.

Ok so today is 3rd day post op! I'm on my 1000 calorie diet and I expected this part to be easier due to the surgery! But since my band isn't closed my appetite is still roaring! But I've done great and will continue to do so until I get this band closed!!!! The gas is so bad though! When will the gas ease up?

Didn't go as planned. I have my band and port in but my liver was too large to fasten the band. So I'm on a diet for 3 weeks and then back in to fasten the band. Prayers please.

How are you doing? That must have been frustrating.

What diet did your Dr have you do before the surgery ?

Hi! I'm actually doing fairly well! I'm sticking to my diet. I'm being very creative with recipes and that helps! That's just it, I didn't have a ore-op diet! Ugh!

Please elaborate. You have a specific amount of weight you have to lose prior to surgery? I'm just curious. I am a self pay so this all literally happened within a month and half!!! And my doctor told me to do whatever works for me to stay at 1000 calories a day. And so far it's been a Protein Bar for Breakfast, Lean cuisine, or smart ones for lunch and dinner. sugar free Popsicles for snack. Baby carrots and radishes. Maybe a hard boiled egg! I've just been playing around. I've managed to keep it right though! Where are you from? Please share your journey so far with me!

I'm pretty much self pay also. I live north of Austin Texas.

I have tried every diet in the book. Honestly, I'm a food aholic lol

I'm currently at 243. The goal is 100 lbs. I want to be healthy and I want to also feel good again.

I wasn't told a certain amount to lose just I had to follow Atkins 2 weeks prior but a week prior I ate

All my last suppers for a week. Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
