How the heck do you keep your carbs under 50 when a banana is 30 carbs?!

@@MistyAnnMoon829 heh...I just picked up almond milk for the first time today. I will admit I don't pay much attention to soy. I can't have it, so I don't know much about it other than a lot of people use soy products as a Protein replacement. I wonder if that's why my NUT mentioned almond milk over soy milk before I even mentioned my intolerance?

Hm that would make sense. I've never had Almond milk before...how do you like it? I'm a big milk lover, I have managed to love skim milk over 1% or 2%, so I am worried I will hate it.

I also love milk and I now use unsweetened vanilla almond milk. About 1 carb per cup. I use it in my Protein Shakes and it tastes fine.

My NUT said that soy is a biiiiiiig nono and it isn't really good for you. She encouraged me to drop dairy milk and pick up almond milk, when I mentioned soy she laid it on thick to avoid it like the plague...

Why is soy a big no no???

Pertaining to VSG, I do not know. It was a lot of information to take in when she was talking, but here is something I found via google :http://wellnessmama.com/3684/is-soy-healthy/

I think i'll shoot my NUT an email and ask her to clarify why it is bad.

Thanks for the info! Let me know what your NUT says! I'm really shocked about this!

I do not keep my carbs that low. My NUT wants me to get 125+ carbs per day. I am ussually between 80 - 100. I do work out a lot.

Early on, I did keep carbs lower, and to do that you have to really watch the fruit. Since you do not have much time to cook, you might want to use the weekend to prep for the week. If you make 2 recipes a week you can freeze a bunch and then over the course of a few weeks you will have built up some variety.

Some of my favorite low carb meals are:

  • chicken cordon blue caserole
  • slow cooker buffalo chicken
  • buffalo chicken meatballs
  • spaghetti squash lasagna
  • chicken divan
  • chicken stir fry
  • slow cooker asian pulled pork
  • bacon brussel sprouts

You just need to get creative
