Regiratation

Recommended Posts

Have been "regirgatating" my food. Toward the end of a meal or even up to 1/2 hour after a meal I feel a burp, but instead of a burp it is a bit of chewed up food. No pressure or pain like when I am overfull or trying to eat too much. Does this happen to anyone else? Does anyone have an explaination? Any input will be very welcomed.

I'm no expert, i'm not even banded....but that pretty much sounds like PB...a productive burp.

Edit: It's what happens when something eaten can't go down due to restriction has to come back up

Yes, its a productive burp. You need to listen to your body and not take that extra bite. You are getting too full too quickly. Slow down okay.

I always thought a PB was a major blow out/vomiting event. Now that I stop and think about it, you are absolutely right. Thank you for helping me see what I really didn't want to. I will slow it down.

You're welcome. Keep this in mind when you are eating. There are sensors at the top of your stomach. When the pouch fills up it will send the full signals to your brain. That takes a few minutes. Eating slow is what you want to do. Small bites of meat the size of a pencil eraser is what you want. If you are eating more than 1/2-3/4 cup of food at once you need a fill. I can only eat 1/2. Thanks for your input Julie. I have been pushing it for months now. Am scheduled for a fill on Wed. Ate dinner very slowly (40 min) tonight, guess what - no pb. I really appreciate your helping me face the music...

Great job. I feel really good today. I haven't PB'd all day either. Ate my tri tip in small bites and took my time. I think I was actually able to get 2 oz down tonight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
