Hi guys,

So i had my surgery march 14th.

But im nervous that im becoming too limited with eating. I live with my boyfriend and constantly being asked "babe, did you eat?" And sometimes the answer being no. Other people talk about their cravings and overeating with their sleeve and i HATE food. Every time food touches my lips i get nauseous. if i could go the whole day without eating i would be ecstatic. I force myself to eat but its really a miserable time. People are starting to call me anorexic, or telling me I'm doing it wrong. I eat about 500 calories a day on average. Help?

At 2 months i was at 500 to maybe 600 a day. Now at 10.5 months i am 1000. I am 15 ponds from goal.

You will suffer long-term consequences with your health if you do not get proper nutrition. My hair started falling out at 5 months and at 6 months is still coming out. You will have worse problems. I hope you are taking good Vitamins and Biotin for your hair. I would recommend that you see your nutritionist and get a solution to your problem about not wanting to eat. The NUT will change your mind when he tells you what will happen - same thing that happens to people who are anorexic, which is psychological. Best of luck to you!

Anorexia is a real complication of weight loss surgery. I would consult a psychologist and get this problem sorted out. I have binge eating disorder and bulimia, and my therapist and I are keeping a very careful watch on my restrictive tendencies. If you need help finding someone, please private message me. My therapist and I have helped dozens of people find psychologists all over the country. :)

That being said, I don't think 500 calories per day for your time out is that bad. I'm 6 months out and I average about 650 per day. I feel fine on this amount, so my nutritionist said I can stay there as long as I continue to feel OK. She wants me at 1000 calories per day at a year out.

The only other thing I could tell you is to find a Protein shake that you really like and sip them all day to at least get some Protein in. Vitamins are essential, too, if you're that low. Other than that, I think you're doing fine.

you should go see you doctor/nut and have a frank discussion with him/her.

Sounds normal to me only 2 months post op. View food as a prescription medication. ..follow instructions for your health. Your appetite will likely return but right now is very common to feel like eating is too much trouble.

I am 2 months post-op and I feel the same way. I hate eating. It tastes good when I eat, but I hate it. I have no appetite for anything and eat because I have to; I know my body needs fuel. So everyday I force myself to eat. Hopefully my relationship with food will improve over time. In the mean time I'll keep doing what I need to do.

Hi! I totally went through this. One night I nearly sobbed and told my husband I couldn't stand always being queasy. But it has gotten SO MUCH BETTER. I am 5.5 months out, and rarely get nauseated, though sugar still kills me.

I have a few go-to foods that never make me sick. Caprese salad is great--something about it settles my tummy. I also have good luck with refried Beans. bread is rarely my friend.

It will get better, I promise.

My surgery was on March 19, 2014. I am generally nauseous all the time and don't like to eat either.

I'm in touch with the nut and dr. I would really like to know when this will go away?

Thank you.

Laurie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
