Pregnancy and Body contouring

Recommended Posts

Pregnancy will stretch out everything, so its best to wait for plastics until you're done having kids. The few plastic surgeons I have talked to asked me if I planned on having more kids (nope) and said they are reluctant to do any kind of surgery on women who aren't done childbearing yet.

I haven't spoken to a plastic surgeon yet, but I'm impatiently waiting for the day I met my goal weight. I would sign up for a Tummy Tuck today, but then how would my tummy look after I lost an additional 60 something lbs? Not so great. I agree with@LumpySpacePrincess. I've had three children and they stretch your skin in areas and ways you never dreamed possible. It would definitely make more sense to wait until after you have children. IMO

I agree with the above, it would stretch the scars out - I dread to think what they might end up looking like - Also - In a normal TT they sew the stomach muscles together with a permanent stitch... It makes me wonder how a pregnancy after that would be - If the stomach muscle not stretching at that point anymore now it is sewn together - How would that 'be' when you are say 9mths preg? Would your body stretch out sideways? Would it rip where the central stitches are internally and leave you with a hernia to deal with?

I also have 3 kids and they streeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch your body all over the place and - Kids are fabulous - But to spend all that money before - Knowing you would have to do it all over again - I feel (for me anyways) I am glad I did not have any of that type of surgery until after my family was complete.

Good Luck :-)

What about places other than your torso? Arms, knees, lower legs, thighs?

Erin did child birth affect your diet? How did you handle cravings?

I ate what I wanted! It was a terrible idea as I lost control and am still trying to get it back! I just got a fill under fluoroscopy though and I'm finally ready and able to get back in line with my band!

It's really all about self control which I had when I got pregnant but really let it all go when I got a partial unfill...won't make that mistake again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
