Late night food porn channel

Recommended Posts

So I'm a night shifter. On my days off, I am still awake at night! The only thing on that I find entertaining to watch is the food network. Sometimes it's super torturous but I still don't want to stray away from diet (I'm low carbing and I know how annoying it is to get back into ketosis). Does anyone else have this issue or indulge in the guilty pleasure of watching food network even though it can sometimes be torture!?

Hey, neighbor! Pretty chilly here in Sparta this morning, eh?

I cancelled my DirectTV, so I'm afraid I can't offer any meaningful comment here, but I wanted to say hello while I'm watching The Hobbit. :)

Be well…

The only food show I REALLY ever watched was Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, but I really wasn't your tire THEN, and it still isn't NOW. It just made/makes me happy looking at all the yummy plates. Plus I like Guy's personality.

I thought I was the only one that watched that show for food gratification since I can't eat like that! For some reason it gives me comfort to watch it since I can't indulge. It has helped me to shed the weight in a reverse psychological way!!! Glad to know I'm not alone

Definitely not alone! Sometimes I just want to go out and EAT!! Lol but I can't, especially now after my most recent fill. My weight loss and recently booked trip to Cali for January is more of a motivation for me!

Right after I had my RNY last march I came home. I could only drink Water at that point then full liquids... BUT I was addicted to The food Network Channel.. It was torture to me, but I couldn't get enough of watching all the delicious food and wishing I could eat it!!! That lasted a few months then I just stopped watching it!

@@Wendydarling19, I'm a Diners, Drive-In and Dive junky! Love it!!! I know this is going to sound odd but I watch it to see how many recipes I can modify to fit my lifestyle. It's challenging and so instead of doing a crossword puzzle or something this is what I do :-) I love Friday nights, it's the marathon:-)

Swerving a little off topic, let me add that your comment is one of the reasons you are so successful. I know for me, it's enabled me to maintain for the last 1.5 years. I'm no chef, but I'm a dang good cook. Watching these recipes and finding creative ways to substitute EVOO for Crisco/veggie oil or use egg beaters in place of whole eggs, and using nutrient rich veggies in place of processed flour, sugar and rice is one of the keys to keeping this lifestyle new and current. Sorry, back to your regularly programmed material :P

I watch food Network all the time !!! Im very "food orientated". I love grocery shopping, collecting some "historical cookbooks",reading about different foods from different cultures, how certain foods are made, who invented them, etc. My favorite food shows are Diners, Drive ins and Dives, The Pioneer Woman, Unwrapped, and Down home with the Neelys . We got our ugly kitchen redone last year so I finally took an interest in cooking ..Most of my recipies come from Pinterest, its all step by step with LOTS of pictures. So far, everything has turned out very well ! I dont know who is more surprised, me or my hubby !!!

@@2muchfun I'm loving this tag thing btw:-) I LOVE to cook, always have and like you said I love the challenge of being able to make healthy substitutions but still make a great dish and no one knows the difference but me. I love to entertain and feed people, but I love it even more now that I'm not feeding them crap:-)

Oh see I am a horrible cook! Well not horrible, I'm just not a fan of cooking, I gained most of my weight from eating outside at restaurants and sandwich places. I like anything that is simple and easy to cook. I am also a low carber so I basically stick to meat, cheese, and the occasional green veg and maybe an SF ice pop. I feel like with the basics, I won't stray away and accidentally eat too many carbs or something like that. Maybe down the road when I'm not low carbing I will try to be more creative.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
