Is there a stall every 3 weeks? Im 6 weeks out today and have not lost a pound in 8 days! I get over 60 grams of Protein a day and I work out vigorously!!! What gives!? I've only lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks! I started at 330. I thought I would be losing more, faster. I'm so frustrated! I guess I'm doomed to be a fatty no matter what I do!

I only weigh once a week too but i do mine on Thursday since i had surgery on Wed. I have lost 96lbs in just 5 months. I have had a couple small stalls but the first time it happened and i knew i was eating right i figured it was my workouts. I work out at least 5 days a week so i went to the trainer and had him help me change up what i was doing and the next week i had lost 4 lbs. Also when i wasnt losing i still noticed a change in my clothing. You also need to remember that most of us didnt really workout before this so our body is building muscle again. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat so u may be still losing fat and building muscle so sometimes especially early on the scale wont show ur progress cuz ur converting. Dont get discouraged. If you are doing what you're supposed to do it will happen. Just try to change things up and if u can get in more grams of protein per day i encourage u to. Since day 5 if strive for 80-100g and it has worked for me although everyone is different. Good luck to you.

The week before i lost 7 lbs. i live by myself. i have been going through a lot of stress the last few weeks over a pair of new dentures that the dentist that made them will not redo and have had to go have to go and have a new pair made some where else. can stress cause a stall in the weight loss.

My NUT told ke sometimes its as easy as changing up ur diet a bit or ur exercise routine. It takes about 4-6wks for your body to adjust to something new. I have hit a couple stalls now and im 5 months post. The first time i just talked to a trainer and changed up my exercise regimen and Bam! the next week i was losing again. The second time it was because of what i was eating and when. I chamged up my eating and raised my Protein intake and calories and i started losing again. I was eating about 7-800 cal. I raised it to 9-1000 cal and higher Proteins in and lower fat. It did the trick. So either talk to ur doctor or try this out. I hope it will help u.

Please dont get discouraged. We all know where that can lead and we dont want unhealthy eating. I woul assume u are still on a soft diet? My first suggestion would be to really look at ur Protein intake and ur Water intake. If they are too low your body will go into a stall. Make sure u r getting in at least 60g of protein. If u can squeeze more i highly encourage it since it will also aid in ur healing process. Also u need to be at 64oz of water. I know that so early post it is hard to do both but all ur concentration and days should be focused.on getting those 2 things done. If u are walking that is fantastic! U shoud be walking about 15 min every hour unless u can tolerate a nice long stroll which doesnt sound like it yet. I have been super blessed and have had no issues whatsoever. I too had hernia surgery but never felt a thing. My surgeon is awesome and the support staff is outstanding!! Since about day 4 i have been taking in 80-100g od protein a day and after the first week i was able to get in all my water. I healed remarkably fast but then again i tend to be am overachiever. Lol. I was in the gym the day they said it was a go! I am just 5 months post and down 97lbs. My first major goal is 110lbs by my 6 month check up which is June 25th. I think goals are important. I have also done several smaller goals and have hit every one. Just need to stay positive. Please just stay positive and consculiously look at ur intakes and if u need to up them then work hard at it. It will happen for u. I just didnt then amd dont now baby myself. As long as i stayed within my limits i pushed myself and pushed thru the discomfort. We are all here to help and be ur supoort if thats what u need. Keep us informed as to how ur doing and i really hope these suggestions help. :)

Reading all the stall posts I swore that I wouldn't get frustrated like that. Well that's out the window now lol! I dropped a lot in the first two weeks now it's 4 weeks straight of no loss at all. It feels like drastic actions should get results. I'm questioning everything I'm doing even though I have seen how normal stalls are. My clothes are fitting better though and I keep telling myself to keep the faith. As long as I stay honest in my tracking and reporting to my docs and they say I'm doing it right then it will come off. It's hard though lol.

I have been stalled for a month as well. It's the most discouraging feeling. Super bummed and regretting the surgery.

Don't ever regret the surgery. I too am in a 3 wk stall right now. It happens. Ur doc and NUT and exercise physiologists are there just for that. Ask what u may need to do to get it jump started again. Look at ur Protein intake or ur exercises. Maybe u jeed to up ur protein or cal or changr up ur exercise routine. I knew mine was coming. I have dropped 104lbs in less than 6 months so i was waiting for this to happen. When i was early on and i stalled i just did some extreme changes to my exercise and diet and within a week i was losing again. This has been my longest stall but it was because my calorie intake was too low for my activity. I have upped it so hopefully my weigh in thos week will reflect it. Do not get discouraged. It will move again. Just take ur life into ur hands and see what u need to change and do it!! Good luck

I call my stalls my condensing time!! Haha even though the scale isn't moving my body is shrinking... I believe your body is just using some time to condense itself! Hahah makes me feel better any ways! ; )

Here's what I do. I absolutely do not compare myself to anyone on these boards. When it hit me how ridiculous I was being, I acknowledge my unique ways in every other way, I felt much better. My PA also helped me with this with some real facts, and, no offense to anyone, not what a stranger says on a board.

I also only weigh myself weekly. There could have been a stall in there, I have no idea. In addition, I love putting on clothes and looking at the new fit. That tells the story more than anything.

I find the boards so helpful, but I'm me.

I've experienced many stalls over my journey. I was sleeved two years ago and have lost 155lbs. I can remember my first 30 days like it was yesterday. I was extremely excited for change, but scared it might not happen. 30 days post I was down 30 pounds. At week six I hit my first stall. NO GOOD! I was scared. All this for 30 pounds!! Long story short, stalls are part of the deal. After my forth stall I got used to it. I had 30 day stalls and then BOOM! I would drop 7 pounds in one week. I didn't hit my final stall until after I dropped 90 pounds. That was one year post-op. You should expect to drop weight for at least a year to 18 months. But for me, it was one year. After that, I waited 4 months without weight loss. I then implemented Herbalife which helped my drop an additional 65 pounds. I've learned so much over this journey! I feel compelled to give back whenever I can. I've dedicated my time to help others with their journey as well and feel blessed to be in such a position. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I can help!

I did the same at about 6 wks for 2 weeks. The scale didnt show but my clothes were fitting looser. I didnt count calories until i hit about 4 months. Just concentrate on ur Protein intake and make sure u are exercising. Walking and doing some strength in tue arms, just dont tax ur core till at least 6 wks or the doc says to go for it. Dont let this hinder ur progress. Just do what ur supposed to do and it will start again. Im 6 months and 104 down so it will happen. Good luck

I am new to this but even from past weight loss, I know that weight might not move but body composition does. I did not get sleeved to look good but for health reasons. With that being said, a wonderful byproduct will be looking nicer.

Sorry I got off topic. What I really wanted to say is that I find the way my clothes are not fitting each day is more important to me than the weight that I am losing. I have not measured myself other than with the belt that I will quickly need to replace that I could barely buckle a mere month and a half ago. I will take the advice of measurement from people as I believe that is more important. Can anyone recommend what to measure. I would assume neck, biceps, chest, waist, thigh and calves. Any other areas?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
