Just so there are no more misunderstandings, the person I am calling a liar is the registered user "teacher", not anyone else. This person has made rediculous statements. If my posts offended her it was not my intention. S/he has apparantly run a global on my posts in order to take some comments out of context for a reason known only to her. My posts did not single her out until now and only because of rediculous claims. We happen to live in the same area, perhaps we have met in a support group. Who knows?

We don't care. We know Teacher and we are seeing your posts today. Not a difficult decision.

Considering she is on line as we speak, it's a fair bet that she didn't leave as she said she did.

There are no rules here that someone has to be banded for "X" number of days before they can post and offer opinions. That's what adults do, they discuss, agree, disagree, offer a new perspective, etc.

Some people....

Please go back and look at what I actually wrote not what you THINK I wrote. I have already taken back that my "stomp off" was pissy. I cop to it. I own it. I STILL think its irresponsible to tell a newly banded person it's OK to eat pizza and PARTICULARLY if you are not banded yourself. I really feel for the person who said this forum is her ONLY source of information. Both my Dr. and the hospital where I had my surgery offer ongoing support. I just assumed that was the case for everyone. Love, some person:)

If someone said go for it, I would HOPE someone else would correct that misinformation. Did they? Do you have a link?

To "we" I stand by everything I have written. It was not meant to be offensive. If it was it's probably a case of the written word being "heard" in a different tone than meant. But the "private message" thing is REALLY out there....

If I wanted to watch a fight I'd go on Craigslist's Rant and Raves. The point of this forum is to get help and support, not tear each other to pieces. If you want to be divisive, please go elsewhere.

TO be fair to everyone involved, without seeing the PM in question with my own eyes, I'm not sure I believe that it exists. After all, you can claim anything on the internet, but it doesn't mean it's actually true. And to be honest, what was supposedly in the "nasty PM", wasn't all that "nasty". It's the responsibility of the person claiming that they've received a "nasty PM" to prove that they actually received it. It's not the responsibility of the person that supposedly sent it to prove that they didn't.

I have to admit, I too was a little put off by that particular thread. While I have three weeks until my surgery, from talking with my doctor and doing research, I can't fathom trying to eat a piece of pizza 3 1/2 weeks out from banding.

I can see enjoying an occassional slice maybe 6 months down the road, if it can be tolerated, but I have to agree, why would you go through everything we're going through to get banded to eat pizza less than a month later?

But, that's what makes this country great - the differences in opinions and the ability to voice them. Rock on!:biggrin1:

Seems to me one of the problems the OP has is that in her mind it is a strict diet and no food unless it is low fat and low cal.

That isn't how the band works. It's okay to eat a typical diet in moderation. If you don't want to that's fine, it's your choice. But most people with hundreds of pounds to lose can't stick to that kind of diet and that is why they were banded.

The first few posts were reminders about food choices. I really can't understand OPs fit over the thread.

My doc is likely one of the most conservative docs out there. He's conservative in post op diets and fills. But I have to constantly remind myself that not all docs are conservative in that way and I recall one person that I was floored at her post. She was given the green light to eat solids at a week post op and a fill at 15 days.

What are we to say? What else CAN we say? We can say we disagree and why but in the end it is between the person and their doc. I'm not going to tell someone to go against their docs instructions. I'm just not going to do it. I will refer them to the band manufacturers website, their dietary instructions, etc. But when a doc does what they do, it's between the patient and doc.

The first thing I think of as I walk past a pizza place is dripping with fat. And start to feel slightly ill. Without fail. I guess this might just be the online equivalent?

The "band diet" may not have to be strict, but it is vital to eat well. pizza is not my idea of eating well. And to be perfectly honest, a good number of the bandster who are at goal ate what can be considered a strict diet (and exercised daily, but that is not the issue at hand - sorry, I tend to get side tracked)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
